The pills offer the first and most reliable means of mitigating the growth as well as the pain linked to endometriosis due to the hormones that are the therapy with fewer side effects. The pills further prevent ectopic pregnancies due to the fact that they are able to suppress ovulation which makes them the most preferred contraceptive alternative for women especially those who are at the risk of having ectopic pregnancies which is a great threat to life (Sanger, 2013).The birth control methods reduce the risk of contracting ovarian cysts which is a fluid-filled growth developing in the ovary.

This is possible because the pills prevent ovulation. The methods further prevent pelvic inflammatory diseases which are caused by bacteria that infect the fallopian tubes as well as the uterus and can cause infertility under extreme conditions. They also reduce the spread of acne which cannot be cured by other forms of medications.Arguments against birth controlBirth control methods such as the use of pills lead to blood clots or venous thromboembolism, especially in the legs and lungs. Recent studies have indicated that the chances of blood clots are six times high in women who use oral contraceptives in comparison to nonusers.

The use of pills may not require the use of other drugs such as antibiotics, anticonvulsants, antifungals as well as herbal medicines which can affect the number of contraceptive hormones that can be absorbed by the stomach and other metabolic processes. It has been established that women who use birth control pills have increased systolic as well as diastolic blood pressure hence they need to keenly monitor their blood pressure so that they do not exceed the expected limit. Closely linked to blood pressure problems is heart attack condition which arises due to birth control pills and is more prevalent among those women who smoke cigarettes.

This is highly witnessed among women who are 35 years and above hence those who use birth control pills at this age bracket should not smoke as that will increase the chances of developing a heart attack. Weight gain is a major problem associated with the use of birth control pills and other forms of contraceptives. This is due to retention of fluids or estrogen-induced fat deposits especially in the hips, breasts and the thighs. Birth control pills cause androgenic effects resulting from progestins which tend to increase appetite causing them to accelerate their food intake leading to weight gain (Zorea, 2012).
