A discursive analysis of practitioners’ perceptions around child trafficking” by Silvia Bovarnick will be analyzed and discussed. In such a way, the forthcoming research will focus upon the key strengths and weaknesses of this piece of scholarship as well as the overall methodological approach and whether or not there exists key opportunities to strengthen such a type of study in the future. Therefore, it is the hope of this author that such an analytical observation of Bovarnick’s piece will yield a greater level of understanding and appreciation for the primal role that proper research mechanisms must play in presenting a solid piece of verifiable and relevant research into the field in question.

Firstly, it should be noted that one of the greatest strengths that this particular piece of research engenders is its ability to leverage a wide range of other sources and engage the reader with many of the alternate views of what defines child trafficking within existing and past literature (Waltz, 2012). A thorough literature review is always an effective part of ensuring that a particular piece of research is set on solid ground. However, this in and of itself is not enough to ensure that the piece is resilient.

Another noted strength is with regards to the fact that the author presents the scope and importance of the issue within the introduction and does not immediately delve into seeking to define all of the variables or operational goals that the research seeks to engage (Bovarnick, 2010). This is a noted deviation from the many other forms of scholarship that have traditionally been performed upon this particular subject. Another noted strength that must be analyzed is with respect to the fact that the researcher appears to present the findings with as little bias as possible.
