As a result, you feel better about yourself and less worried. Therefore, you feel more socially skilled.

Even the physicians prescribe CNS depressants such as alcohol to treat anxiety, muscle tension, pain, insomnia, and panic attacks. There are many other drugs that have similar effects to alcohol, for example, narcotics, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and chloral hydrate. We need to understand why people crave for alcohol. It is not merely a person’s fault. Alcohol has an “addicting effect” on human beings due to its chemical properties. And also, individuals under the influence are usually violent.

You may feel tough after you have had a beer. But the sad truth is “alcohol is controlling you”, not the other way around. Intoxicated individuals may neglect and abuse children, harm women and disabled or put their lives at risk. In many cases, people have confessed that they were under the influence when behaving violently. Alcohol induces Violence in the SocietyDanger of using alcohol to overcome your anxieties is the extremity, where you do not feel repulsive when you must. Example: when involving acts such as raping, injuring, abusing and killing.

Alcohol-related violence is a severe social problem in the world. Over 100,000 students of age 18 to 24 are victims of alcohol-related sexual assault or rape. Another 400,000 students had unprotected sex while too intoxicated to know if they consented to having sex. If you are not concerned about society at large you should be concerned about your own well-being. Alcohol impairs your judgment, creates beer bellies, and leads to hangovers. One day you might wake up from a hangover to find out that you are a teenage mother, single parent, need an abortion, have AIDS, or sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Alcohol consumption weakens the immune system. In other words, alcoholics are more likely to die from AIDS, tuberculosis, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) compared to the “sober”. There are also specific disorders, epilepsy, and other non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, cirrhosis of the liver, and various cancers related to excessive consumption of alcohol. And the list goes on. We need to understand the bitter truth about alcohol. Dangerous of consuming alcohol are true for people at any age.

However we should also understand that most of the fatal injuries relating to alcohol occur in younger age groups. And it consumes the best of your cognitive skills including memory and ability to comprehend. It damages your brain and its ability to perform optimally. This is why the government is taking special efforts to prevent alcoholism among young people like you. Drinking May Cause Memory LossYou can find enough support to overcome the anxieties in a secure manner at your school. Talk to your parents, guardians, counselors, teachers, or anyone who “sincerely” cares for you.

Parents please note that your intervention is very effective in delaying the first drink of adolescents. And parent-student integrated intervention is very important for correcting heavy or weekly drinking. Prevent Alcoholism Today for a Better TomorrowWe discussed the true nature of alcohol and the dark magic behind intoxication. Accepting it as a part of our culture is a big mistake humans made 1000s of years ago. If at least one of you decided to abstain from alcohol today, it will be a true victory for the future of our world.

Thank you.
