Ever since, the manufacturing process has undergone tremendous improvements, which has led to improved efficiency and lowered the cost of production further. The improvements in the electronics and computer design have led to the development of computer-controlled control systems. These systems are advantageous over previously used systems as they can be easily manipulated to change the output.
Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) refers to the use of Numerical Control (NC) software applications to create G-code, which are the instructions fed to numerical control machines to produce the required output. The use of CAM has led to the production of high quality products. CAM can also be defined as the process of producing a manufacturing plan for the design of tools and models, and coordinating the machines, and simulation. The plan is then carried out on the production line.
For machines to operate, they require a form of control. There are various types of control mechanism available including manual control, automatic control and computer control. Machines used for mass production are often expected to produce to repeat similar operations precisely and fast. They should repeat these processes repeatedly. This requires automation to improve the speed of these processes. Common techniques that are used in the control systems of machines include electrical systems, pneumatic systems, and mechanical systems. For such systems, if a change is required, the procedures necessary to effect the change are long, tedious, and expensive. Advances in computer and electronic technologies have been employed to design systems that are more flexible. The use of these technologies leads to an increase in the efficiency of machinery produced. The products produced are of better quality and are cheaper (Elanchezhan, Sunder & ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...Polymers (FRP) industry. During the Second World War, demand for alternate materials increased, as they became necessary in the manufacture of lightweight military aircrafts. During this period numerous advancements occurred regarding the production and application of fibre composites. Engineers discovered other advantages as these material remains transparent to radio frequencies utilised during wartime. Many fibreglass reinforced material became adopted in protecting electronic radar equipment. Following the end of the war inventors began making application for the fibreglass within other industries, other than aviation. Brandt Goldsworthy – grandfather of composites, developed numerous processes for manufacturing...

Analog Circuit Computer Aided Design (CAD)

...Literature Review of Analog Circuit Computer Aided Design (CAD) Introduction The main purpose of this research of “Analog CAD” is to get the values of transistor sizes and components values like resistors and capacitances if the analog circuit specification is given. The optimization technique it adopts is geometric programming (Boyd, 2004). Till today analog circuit design automation is done for long length transistors or sub-micron transistors. Main objective of this research work is to automate circuit in deep sub-micron region. Before starting actual work on any topic it is necessary to go through literatures otherwise one may land up in a result which has already been found out by some other person. Review of Literature... in the...

...concerning mechanical engineering have changed. The evolvement of technology has significantly been a reason for the changes. Over the years that I have been in the company, there are a number of new technological innovations. For instance, a good example that I can get is the use of computer-aided design (CAD). This innovation never existed before. We used to do the designs manually by drafting the prototypes which was time consuming and tiresome. The introduction of the CAD has considerably enhanced our performance as they are remarkably efficient and time saving. I have been able to improve my productivity, and the quality of work I...
