Pattern which for me is characterized by a constancy or uniformity is something that is not only seen in poetry but also in design, ideologies, events, artwork, and even in the simplest things we encounter every day. Though we all would immediately associate pattern in the words of poems or songs, pattern can also be applied in the design of a certain fabric/material, just as it can be seen in painting or any kind of art, ideas, and a series of events. 2. Consonants and vowels indeed play an important role in creating pattern in short stories and fiction.

This is because the rhyming sounds a certain arrangement of vowels and consonants make is the easiest way to observe pattern in written form or literature.
