As a result, the company has to spend a lot of its revenues on payments, leading to an increase in the cost of the products. The high cost of the products has resulted in a negative impact on the market of the company, with the customers mostly turning towards the imported goods and alternatives from the Chinese market. This project is aimed at redeeming the market value of the company by installing a fully automated assembly line for the widgets in the existing plant. This would mean fewer workers to pay, and a subsequent decrease in the cost of the products.
Objectives and constraints: the objective of the project is to install a fully automated assembly line for widgets in the existing plant in order to reduce the cost of the products and revive the company’s customer base. The aim is to compete against the imported Chinese goods. The fact that these products would be cheap but manufactured in the United States would ensure the quality of the products, which would be an additional attraction for the customers. The project is high priority, therefore, it should not exceed the deadline. However, it must also not exceed the budget limit of $10 million. These two conditions might pose as constraints because this is the company’s first automated assembly line, so trained and skilled workers for the installation and running of the line would be required, which might ask for more finance and time frame.
