The political manoeuvrings that occurred in Bendix during the time of William Agee as head of the company should not be looked at completely in a view of black and white ethics or morality. There are certain shades of grey that can be found behind the scenes of this issue, and it points out to the ever-changing dynamic of company politics that occurred in this case study. This case of Bendix also, and eventually, revealed a certain corporate ethical issue with other companies. With regards to the quick appointment of Mary Cunningham, it would be considered spiteful and also prejudicial for the board members and the other managers to give her such difficult treatment.

Their reactions showed that they greatly feared the loss of their position and reputation. This is due to the fact that William Agee’s method of leadership, which is decentralizing powers and his own spontaneous style of meritocracy, is both in contrast and in conflict with board members and other managers’ style of corporate handling. It is ethically wrong for them to treat her rise to the ranks with much sour judgment. William Agee should have also put an effort to avoid such scrutiny by showing some professional distance between him and Mary Cunningham.

That way, both would have less trouble with regards to the position placing issues and resistance from the board members.
