Transfer Essay The secret of a successful life is about making the right choices at the right time. Life does not provide many instances where an individual has an opportunity to rectify his decisions. I believe that life has granted me such an opportunity that might lead me to attain success and professional growth in my desired field. I have been pursuing my education in Rockland Community College in the medicine department and wish to transfer to your esteemed institution in the clinical psychology department.

Since my childhood, I have been exposed to the field of medicine due to the involvement of distant family members in the respective profession. The nobility related to the profession always attracted me the most and made me believe that medicine was my future. As an automated surrender to my decision in the early years, I enrolled in the field of medicine and commenced my studies. It was only later that I realized my true passion and initiated self-study related to the field of clinical psychology.

During my research, I began to identify the aspects that had left me unsatisfied in the field of medicine and thus, became the reason for average grades in the respective program. The minimal levels of human interaction in the field of medicine always left me longing to address the emotional statuses of the patients since mental health plays an important part in the well-being of the entire body. People define me as a great conversationalist who possesses effective listening skills. I have been placed at various leading positions in my academic life by my instructors, for example appointment as the High School Mentor, counselor for young children and Northeast Logistic Coordinator; such opportunities have developed my qualities as an aspiring and guiding leader.

Numerous volunteering activities have taught me the value of life and the difference that one can make in the life of others. My experience as a teacher has taught me the value of patience and perseverance; I believe that these two qualities are vital for pursuing a career as a clinical psychologist since this field does not necessarily have quick treatments and diagnosis like the field of medicine. Continued interaction with children as their counselor and facilitator has earned me the confidence to tackle other people’s problems and issues in a calm and thoughtful manner.

I have been able to analyze the curriculum of the clinical psychology program in your esteemed institution. It would not be wrong to state that my eagerness to study the field of clinical psychology has incremented after the realization of the quality of the respective program. The program seems to accumulate a perfect balance of theoretical and practical domains of the field under discussion. I aspire to do my masters degree in clinical psychology followed by a PHD in the respective field. I shall be starting my junior year next year in my current institution and wish to commence my education in your institution from the Spring Semester 2012.
