Furthermore, a marketing manager must be hardworking, focused, ambitious, highly flexible and mobile. He or she should be able to multi-task, work in a team and exceed company’s sales targets. The first role of the marketing manager is to plan, conduct and coordinate market research. This makes him or her well acquainted with all the internal as well as well as the external environments of the business. Through market research it is possible to determine size of the market and the target customers as well as their needs.

Market research enable a marketing manager identify market opportunities and ways to meet customers needs. In addition, they need to be versed with all the intricate details of the company’s product. The second role of marketing managers is to develop marketing plans and strategies (Vogt and Wojak 183). When service or product sells, the company is likely to achieve its goals and objectives. According to Palmer et al (107), marketing managers identify and develop ways of making a customer to buy the product or service in line with company’s objectives.

For example, the company may be planning to make $30,000,000 in sales in a given year. Therefore, the marketing manager must develop plans and strategies to sell products worth or in excess of $30,000,000. Thirdly, marketing managers ensure that company’s sales targets are met. Fourthly, the role of a marketing manager is to identify new market opportunities. This is necessary especially when there is stiff competition in the current market. Fifth, marketing manager supervise and coordinates all marketing activities.

This is to ensure that the company’s internal environment is conducive for making the marketing initiative a success. He or she ensures that the marketing team adheres to business ethics, meet deadlines and work within the budget. Sixth,
