I am really obliged for your endeavour to organize a meeting with the QS to discuss potential business opportunities. Which has made me understand the challenges that QS firm is facing and recognize the prospect to help implement effective management practices to meet energy reduction targets. Building Energy Ratings for both domestic & non domestic applications is the field of my specialization in addition to this I am fully capable of Building Energy Rating through the DEAP and NEAP programs, and can confirm conformance with the TGD Part L. I assure you that your requirements of sustainable solutions and optimum building design can be meet by my experience in dynamic thermal modelling. It is my firm belief that we can attain client satisfaction, highest possible BER and successful completion of the project only by employing integrated design. Your collaboration along with the design team will ensure all engineering requirements are fulfilled under the current governing legislation and regulations. The attachments along this letter enlist my recent appointments in the energy management sector. The widely held building projects employed my expertises to achieve energy focused objectives. On the other hand some of them required building energy rating services. Regrettably my interaction with the architect is sometimes limited, major reason is, my involvement in current projects with diverse nature and scale. Second component of the attachment is a citation of previous projects where scope, value and risk were considerably greater. A number of prominent architectural firms were involved in these projects and hence it demanded continuous collaboration with all key stakeholders. One such relevant example is of ‘Energy Retrofit Scheme’ which is one among numerous grant support schemes by the state energy authority which aims to assist organizations in reducing energy requirement and carbon emission. It is observed that through improved and upgraded systems the energy requirements can reduce to 80% of pre-approved energy. A number of qualifying criteria must be satisfied, which include a fundamental requirement that the minimum capital expenditure is 40000 euro for energy upgrade works. I was approached by the national body for agricultural and food industry, namely xxx, back in June 2010. The body employs its 100 office facilities across the country to carry out its operations. The results of the initial consultation made us realize that in order to acquire support grant we have to formulate an energy assessment. When more work was done, it was concluded that there is a dire need to adopt a national or regional approach and develop a project plan. This master plan would be used to outline key deliverables, suitable approach, scopes of work and project schedule for the activities involved. According to this model, a typical scope involved a comprehensive assessment of the buildings energy requirements through the use of computer modelling and survey instrumentation. Eventually a report was written highlighting findings, recommendations and financial analysis on the feasibility of these works. Where as the cost effective solution was the key pillar to support the recommendation of the report such as replacing single glazed panes with double glazing. Finding such solutions involved a great deal of work and it took a detailed survey of two offices in mid summer to evaluate and analyze and to finally come to a conclusion. Then another important aspect is the Detailed Energy Audit’ and the main attribute of this audit is the survey. We can perform the audit in three phases. Pre-survey phase being the first involves Planning and organizing, a walk through audit and then a Informal interview with plant personnel. Then comes the second phase which is the survey phase this engross primary data collection, analysis of energy use, identification and development of energy conservation opportunities, financial analysis with cost benefit and ROI techniques/methods and in the end report preparation and presentation to the plant personnel and management. Finally the third and the last phase is Post survey phase which majorly deals with implementation and follow-ups. I assure you that I can be of great aid to you first because I will remain involved for the duration of an energy efficiency/conservation project and later following the implementation phase, I will perform results tracking for the ROI period set forth in a projects official proposal. Further more I can act as the project manager who has a lead role through out the construction process. A challenge was posed on the National body for agricultural and food when they were bound to follow a requirement of energy authority of a lump sum investment of 40k. This resulted into confusion and was unable to reach a consensus on the organizations strategy for implementing a nation wide approach. The situation was exaggerated when the state energy authority has ceased applications for grant support until 2011. As a result, only a number of the building and system components have been upgraded in three facilities in County Galway. I am attending a state energy authority event in National body for agricultural and food on 26 November 2010 where I plan to meet with the building control officer for National body for agricultural and food to seek clarification on their new strategy. At the moment I am implicated with three non profit organisations with a view to developing an energy management system for them on non profitable basis and fulfil my duty and responsibility to the society and bring about a positive change. One of these projects includes St Monicsa, a 50 resident nursing home which is a public health care facility for the elderly and is based in Dublin city. Unfortunately they are forced to compromise their services due to the reduction in state support. As we all are well aware of the fact that Health care facilities especially those which are for elder people where comfort is of prime importance, have very high energy requirements especially when they operate 24 hours. In addition involving an experienced consultant would further increase stress on the reduced budget. In this situation I felt that it is my moral and social responsibility to use my expertise to assist those who are in dire need and I rendered my services for the cause. Although these projects are in there initial phase but I hope that my cost effective energy management solutions will be implemented in the coming months and will reduce the stress on both the minds and the expenses of these people. Giving them, a smile. My vast work experience and education has equipped me with an aptitude that can be utilized to fulfil any role in the building services industry. I am confident that my versatile capabilities and professional attitude can become a valuable asset of your organisation. I have attached a copy of my curriculum vitae for your information. Please feel free to reach me either by phone () or by e-mail (). Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Read More
