1. Explain the origins of the Arab-Israeli dispute and the positions of both sides. Why is this dispute so complex? Can you review and offer any solutions or hope for the future?  The Arab-Israeli dispute started in late 1880, when the Jews entered the dessert land after buying it from the ottoman Sultan. Both Arabs and Israeli have some religious affiliation with the land according to their religious books. The conflict on both sides started when Palestine, which had majority of Arabs living there and were following the religion of Islam. One of the main factors involved in the Arab-Israeli dispute is the religious conflict. Both Arabs and Israeli give priority to the place as they want to be independent in the religion they choose to follow. Conflict on both sides started when Jews started interfering in the Arabs religion as in the beginning the Israeli’s were few in population as compared with Arabs. Jews started breaking the promises with Arabs and problems overcame the situation. And now the issue has become an International Issue. Arab side is quite strong in their perspective and makes it clear to the Israeli’s what they want of them. But Israeli side is not going to back up. Another issue is related to the Golan heights, Arabs want Israeli to compromise on the side but Israeli’s are not ready to leave the side as they want to make the borders strong for the Israel. Talking about the particular situation it is becoming critical day by day as all the Arabian countries are on one side supporting the Arab community living in Palestine. If we focus on the solution then Israeli’s should give an ear to the Arab community and fulfill their promises. 2. Articulate the origins and main motives for United States involvement in the region. Specifically, what are American interests in the region? Was the United States correct for getting involved? Have we made any specific mistakes?  United States is continuously supporting the Jews in the Arab-Israeli issue as in 1948; Jews were known to have a modern nation US are supporting them after the modern Jews community came into being. Throughout the history of Israeli and Arab war depicts the friendly behavior of US towards Jews. US is basically trying to have a region stability in the particular region. Middle-east is like a golden bird which everyone tries to catch and hold. Israeli’s are continuously expanding their territories in the desert regions and Arab sides, so US is supporting modern Jews and helping them to continue with it as they gain with their political concerns. If we recall the history of all the wars Israel has fought it has resulted in their procurement of more land as a result and so they have grown year after year. Since after all the US is behaving as a full time Israeli supporter. U.S claims that all the steps taken by the U.S government are for the piece in the region and the UN is trying to solve the conflict between the two communities. In the name of peace U.S government issued a resolution that was “be all and end all” and the idea was to have peace. The resolution was about the Israeli’s to withdraw their troops from the Arab community and should solve the refugee and water related issues. Many countries participated in the peace resolution to solve the matter running from a long time. Sometimes it does exist and most of the time it is really impossible to keep the both sides quite. US involvement in the issue from the day one has been unjustified as it is fully supporting a community that behaves inhumanly most of the time. 3. Why has Turkey been a model for developing nations? Assess its effectiveness in dealing with such issues as secularization, westernization, and modernization? Turkey is one of the progressing countries in the word since 1950. Turkey has increased its resources rapidly and is still working hard to gain strong economic value. The Country has worked a lot on wealth, economy, health, agriculture, medication, education. According to the research Turkey is being a model for the countries that are still having issues. The reason behind the success is the control of the land in urban and rural areas as well as the distribution of the resources to each and every part within the country. Although the journey was very difficult as it needs constant development issues, but the region is maintaining it very accurately after having achieved it. It’s a fact that none of the regions in the Middle East have reached to such progress level so far. The country is modern and seems to follow the Japanese process of modernization. If we particularly talk about the modernization in the country, Turkish elite are not following the western trends. Political culture is always there when we talk about the modernization. Political culture of a nation indicates the values, culture and social manners that the country follows. The turkey elites have established a very important bonding in the nation that is oneness and the removal of personal conflicts to show the foreign countries the oneness of the nation. Personal issues are everywhere but to keep them personal is always better if one is trying to progress in today’s world. There is a long debate about the fact that whether turkey comes under Europe or its Modernization has differentiated it with western trends? The Answer is yes it is in Europe but the cultural and political values it follows are not similar with the Europe trends. 4. Analyze the differences between Arab nationalism and Islamism (political Islam). Provide specific examples of and the reasons for the growth of each. Which force seems likely to prevail in the future and why?  For every state it is difficult to adopt the modernization when Islamism is exists, specially talking about the Arab Countries. There is no big difference between the two concepts Islamism and Arab nationalism. Arabic people believe that they are the nation of history and they differentiate themselves with the language and culture as well. On the other hand the Islamism is not only following the religion but it particularly defines the issues related to the nation and people, who are touched by the modern world making them modern but at the same time following religion. The cultural and political issues relating to Islam that is sometimes called to be the political Islam makes a follower Modern Muslim. Islam is a religion that at times seems to be modern in every scenario and atmosphere. Islamism is in its self historical; Islamism and Arab nationalism are behaving in the same manner as they both follows the same religion that tells them that brotherhood is important and they follow the same customs. The idea of Arab nationalisms is helping the Arabic people to maintain and develop their culture as modern culture by continuing to follow the rules of the Islam, so basically both the terms relate to one another. There are many conflicts between the people living in the Arab countries like the Islam followers are likely to be engaged with the people who speak Arabic and follows the rules of the Islam while on the other hand there are many people who call themselves Arabic people but are following other religions like Christianity. So the cultural difference makes them think and behave differently. 5. What impact has the Muslim resurgence had on world history since 1945? What caused this resurgence and why is the West having difficulty coping with this movement. What is the relationship between this movement and the increase in terrorist activities?  All the Islamic states have still not developed even after being Independent. It is sad to know that the Muslim’s cultural and religious issues are increasing day by day. The modern Islam, the political disaster and the ignorance of the issues related to people has made them weak and that makes them loose their identities. The Muslim countries are highly dependent on the foreign fund that throws their economy into depression. Even the western technologies are widely used in such countries. The western culturet has a great influence on the nations worldwide and is spoiling the Muslim communities and there values. Economical downfall in the Muslim state is the basic reason behind the recovery of such states. During the past few years Islam has been fastest growing religion in the world. The living values told by the Religion are highly motivated and encouraged. But today it has made its impression has been marred in the eyes of the international community because of the terrorist activities, which although are not related with the religion. The terrorism has overcome the positivity of the religion. Terrorism has effected the Islamic nations very badly because the word terrorism is sometimes being connected with the Muslim states. The scenario is bleak the situation of Islam today restricts its spreading in its true form. Terrorism has pot rated the Muslims as the fundamentalists and the problem and crisis Muslims are facing is not only affecting the cultural values but also the economic values of the Muslim Courtiers.
