new land carried both these metals in large quantity though concealed safely under its chest about which the indigenous Red Indians had neither the information nor they had devised any methods to explore. In addition, other European powers including Spain, Portugal, France, Denmark and Italy had already been striving to capture all land and resources of the new world for their financial and strategic benefits. Since there had been rivalry between Spain and England on colonial issues, our visionary King James I had already planned schemes in respect of making advancements to occupy the area enriched with precious metals for boosting up the British economy, as well as for expanding the agricultural activities in the vast land of the new region, so that the Great Britain could escape any food crisis in future years to come.

England was seeking to get a toe hold in the so-called New World despite the fact the Spanish had already staked their claim. (Tisdale, 2006) Being a professional, experienced and skilled farmer, I accepted the offer of joining the voyage proceeding to the new world in order to settle down in the new land on permanent basis for cultivation purposes. I had high dreams of a settled life in yonder land in order to earn a lot from there on the one hand, and for exploring new lands to quench my thirst of visiting new regions on the other.

Three ships, named Susan Constant, Godspeed and Discovery, were bound to carry one hundred and four passengers to the newly discovered region under the leadership of Captain Christopher Newport. I got opportunity in sailing in the Susan Constant, the largest of the three, which departed from London in December 1606. Sailing through Atlantic Ocean was really an enjoyable and fascinating experience, during which we underwent many challenges and experiences, and made several stays during the journey because of the Anglo-Spanish War prevailing those years.
