The concepts that I have learned throughout this have provided me with a strong basis and understanding of English and the literature that accompanies it. The subject matter as well as the way that this course was taught allowed me to gain deeper insight into English as well as the uses that are linked to English with different facets of life. I expect to use this course through the rest of my movement toward a degree and will expect to have a stronger development of writing and reading as I move through the different types of courses for college, even when associated with my degree field.

The main benefit that I was able to gain from this course was related to the concepts of writing that were shown during the course. The papers that were written as well as the way that I was able to approach my personal understanding of writing helped me to develop substantially. I now have a better association with grammar, organization of papers and the mechanics that are related to English. The practical application of this through the various assignments helped me to practice writing and the techniques that are a part of this.

This was one of the best concepts that were associated with the class, specifically because it allowed me to have a practical understanding of the concepts in the class and the expectations that were a part of the course. Another benefit that was a part of this class was with the reading that was a part of the course. The analysis that was combined with this, as well as the research that was required, provided me with a deeper level of interest in the course. As I moved through this course, I was able to gain a deeper interest in the specific topics and the requirements that were a part of this.

At times, I found specific interests that led me into personal research and development. Each of these was based on the studies of the course as well as the expectations that were a part of the different assignments. The mechanics that were a part of the essays written, as well as the association with research and analysis allowed me to develop and to gain further insight into the class and the expectations that were given from the syllabus. The ability to learn these different parts of the class also allowed me to see specific weaknesses that I have in relation to writing and English.

Grammar and sentence structure was difficult for me to grasp with the writing. There were several sentences that I would have to continue to revise when working on different papers. Each of these didn’t seem to make sense or have a strong understanding in relation to what I was writing. I found that I have specific problems with the association of sentence structure and would often write in fragments. I also found some difficulties with the organization of papers and what was expected to go in different places when writing on a specific topic.

To change this, I began to focus on different ideas in one section of the paper and ensured that these were covered completely without a change of focus. Understanding my weaknesses in writing as well as in the development of composition allowed me to change the way that I wrote through different types of essays. I believe that I have improved with my papers and the compositions that I have written, specifically because I found these weaknesses in my own writing. The English Composition 2 class that I have taken is one that I consider as valuable toward my education.

The learning experience of writing, revising and research of papers have all created a deeper understanding of what is expected with academic writing. I believe that I will be able to apply these skills to my different courses through college. I will also be able to create a different association with this when I move into my career field of choice, all which will work as a foundation for my level of understanding. More importantly, these skills will help me to understand how to communicate with others in personal and professional situations.
