The reason I was not accepted into the program was not given to me specifically. I did make it to the first interview; it was taken over the phone and not in person as I had expected. This threw me off a little bit, and, I think, this is the reason I did not make it into the program. An interview over the phone, I feel, is too impersonal and does not allow room for the interviewee to settle into the process. I have done some research about this, which included reading books and articles, as well as having a few discussions with some of my professional colleagues, and have discovered that this phenomenon holds true not just for me, but for many others.
I think my discomfiture showed through because of the interview being conducted over the telephone, thus, affecting my performance. I have tried to get used to the idea of non-personal interviews being taken; I have read up on the techniques regarding such interviews, as well as tried to learn how not to lose my element when, and if, such an interview is conducted again. In this regard also, I have solicited the opinions of my professional colleagues. Resultantly, I feel, I have become better able to handle such non-personal interviews, and would perform much better than I previously did.
Since my previous application, I have been busy improving my credentials and qualifications; I have started working on getting my Teacher’s Certification. I am currently enrolled with an online program at the Western University, (city name if available) for the Teacher’s Certification program. I think this certification gives me more preparedness for leading an urban public school, as it would help me get an insight into the latest teaching techniques, something a principal of a school should be well versed with.
All of my efforts show that I am willing to work on improving my already well established professional qualifications. Not only does my previous experience of working as a principal qualify me to lead an urban public school, but the facts that I am still willing to improve further, as well as learn more about the job, what it entails and prepare for it as well as I can show my dedication and commitment to the job. This is the primary reason why I think I should be accepted into the program this time.
