This dissertation work proposes to make a comparative evaluation of the performance between the FCT continuous haulage system and the new 20 tonne capacity Shuttle Car system within the potash mining horizon at Cleveland Potash Limited.
CPL’s corporate plans call for enhanced production with a significant improvement in the economies of operation. Thus two main goals of the company can be noted as tonnage of material removed from the mines and the cost per tonne of material mined, keeping in mind the current operations and the proposed expansions. Introduction of the new generation Shuttle Cars and their operation during the past 8 months provides an opportunity for an objective analysis of the relative merits of the new haulage systems vis-à-vis the earlier FCT system. Thus the objectives of this study can be listed as:
To evaluate the relative advantages and disadvantages of each system in terms of suitability for i) room and pillar mining ii) long wall mining, and hence to recommend appropriate choices for future needs, based on the reserves plan, panel length, layout and potential.
The proposed study will be substantially based on the operational experience at CPL and as such limited to the recorded data, having a bearing on the objectives identified above. At the core of this study is the comparative evaluation of the two types of haulage systems in use at CPL. On the technical side, the study will be limited to general observations on the design, operation and maintenance of the two systems. On the financial side, the study will be limited to the investment costs, and operation and maintenance costs with a view to estimate the data on cost per tonne of mining.

The Joy Luck Club

...). Because Suyuan’s story slowly permeates the novel via Jing-mei’s voice, the two stories finally merge together, reconciling Suyuan’s two lives, two cultures and a mother and daughter. This enables Jing-mei to bring closure to a painful wound and resolution to her mother’s story, but also her own. At the same time, this journey brings hope to the whole Joy Luck Club, because they become aware of the fact that, though very hard, it is possible to reconcile oppositions such as past and present, Chinese and American culture and those between generations of mothers and daughters. The Difference between Joy and Happiness

...and Number of the Teacher’s THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JOY AND HAPPINESS Introduction A distinctive element of the Christian faith is that it orients man to hope in God, to respond to God’s love which is manifest as infinite joy, and to rest in God alone as the only source of ultimate happiness. Human beings cannot have true exaltation, dignity, joy or happiness without God, who loves us for our own sake. Joy is a spiritual concept that is inextricably linked with God’s bountiful nature, love and caring for all people. Happiness is not an end in itself, it is a by-product of an individual’s attitudes to life, and most importantly a meaningful faith that...

...they make. The Joy Luck Club did not break stereotype People may say that Hollywood succeeded in breaking the stereotype. I do not agree. The success of Hollywood in portraying Asians a little bit more accurately in the movie The Joy Luck Club is because of two things. First, this movie was an adaptation of the book: The Joy Luck Club, written by Amy Tan - an Asian woman. Having an Asian woman as a source, there was really no room for misinterpretation of the culture. Second, this movie is about Asians. So there was really no other culture to compare it with. It was neither inferior nor superior to any culture because there is only one presented. Asian culture was the...

Joy

...My Personal Interpretation of Joy Perhaps one of the human experiences I am always looking for is that delightful feeling of exuberance I call “joy”. As it puts meaning to life, and makes my life worth living. It is wonderfully sensed, that I prefer experiencing than feeling it. But still, even as it is better felt, our inquisitive human mind still tries to comprehend this “temporary high” called “joy”. John Locke, widely known as the father of liberalism, tried to define it as the “delight of the Mind, from the consideration of the present or assured approaching possession of a Good (Locke, 1689). The translation also took some improvement as other authors also tackled the complicity...

...valedictorians graduating. This is following a change in the grading system, which permitted more individuals to be eligible. This could also be because of great grade inflation that was recorded extensively in the school and elsewhere. Grade inflation may have led to GPA being so concentrated at the high-end so that present GPAs have decreased academic worth as compared to previous decades. Grade C was the most common at the college level. This was until the middle of 1960s, when grade B turned to be the most common. In mid 1990s, inflationary grading started with A’s turning out to be the usual grade but they are now approaching 50 percent of all grades in college (Perry, 1). In another example, it...

The movie is based on the lives of four Asian women and their respective daughters. This report is a brief research on the movie based on four articles published about the same. The first article has been written by Wanlin Li and he has made a thematic representation of the characters in the movie. According to him, the ‘matrilineal’ connection between the mother...

Case Study: Joy

...Joy Case Study Joy Case Study Medical practitioners such as nurses, therapists and doctors, normally ask whether declining or evenwithdrawing care might be considered as client abandonment (CRNBC, 2015). Your answer relies on whether or not you have developed a relationship with the client or you chose to do the given assignment. This is according to the Duty to Provide Care Practice Standards that every practitioner accepts to obey before they start practice (CRNBC, 2015). Thus, if you fail to cater to your patients under such conditions, then you might just be held liable for client abandonment devoid of arranging for another appropriate practitioner to take over the matter, offering other colleagues...
