Extract of sample "African Slave Trade"

Spanish trader in 1503 also took many Africans as slaves. Bartering of goods produced outside Africa with slaves further increased the trade. The trader used to sell the slave for profits to the Americas. Until the 18th century, millions of Africans slaved while more than a million died along the journey to the coast. The removal of Africans made the population of the country decline also the continent face huge poverty issues. On the other hand, the European country's wealth resulted from slavery.

One of the biggest effects of slavery was the rise to racism and differentiation in color. In the 18th century, the movement against the slave trade began when Thomas Clarkson took steps to create awareness regarding the cruel act, and subsequently, the House of Lords enacted an Act for the abolition of the Slave Trade (Newman, pp. 23). Lastly, President Thomas Jefferson also signed a bill approved by Congress to prohibit the import of slaves in the United States.
