Email Week 2 Does God exist? This question coming from someone who lives in the flesh may be a difficult one. As believers, we know that theanswer to this question is yes, God does exist! So now the question is how do we know that this is true? In Matthew 11:25, Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.” Therefore, we as God’s children have received the gift of faith. The faith we have received is not from our own reason or logic, but from saving faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After reading Erickson Page 357, something interesting can be learned from this. The physicist, of which we would possibly describe as wise and learned, is unable to articulate the properties of light and acknowledges light as a mystery; however, he does acknowledge that light does exist. Therefore, we as believers in God acknowledge His existence because we have been enlightened by the Holy Spirit. The light of Christ shines in us; as believers we have also experienced general and special revelations because of our faith in Christ Jesus. We live in the Spirit, not in the flesh, so now we have peace with God through the righteousness of Christ Jesus’ blood. As we read in Romans 8:6 “for to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” Our old self is dead, for we were crucified with Christ, and we were born again. God does exist because we have new life in Christ. This new life does not come from our own self, as the self is dead. Read More

...Jeremiah e mail week 2 Brother, Jeremiah Your comment about, it being impossible to prove God’s existence through rational thought, is indeed true. Reason, logic or thought are unable to fully comprehend the attributes; faith, grace and love that define God. You are correct in mentioning that the Holy Spirit will reveal things to us by itself. Jeremiah 33:3 “call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” This is a promise from God on which, we as Christians can stand on. All things were created through Jesus Christ. He has all authority over the flesh and bones, and we humans as whole. Christ paid a debt he did not owe. What a God!! Christ chose to pay it...
