Responses to Posts The Use of Slang Words Slang is defined by Nordquist (2009) as “an informal nonstandard variety of speech characterized by newly coined and rapidly changing words and phrases”. Using slang terms and colloquialisms may mean that only your immediate peers understand what you’re saying. People outside of your group may not be familiar with the same phrases that you use. It would be considered rude to the using slang when not all can understand what is being said or meant. There are greater tendencies to be misunderstood and misinterpreted. There is a greater chance that you’ll be understood by a wider audience, if you follow the rules of spoken language correctly. (Nomensa 2009)
2. Fragmented Sentences
According to Capital Community College Foundation (2004), “a sentence fragment fails to be a sentence in the sense that it cannot stand by itself. It does not contain even one independent clause. There are several reasons why a group of words may seem to act like a sentence but not have the wherewithal to make it as a complete thought: (1) it may locate something in time and place with a prepositional phrase or a series of such phrases, but its still lacking a proper subject-verb relationship within an independent clause; (2) it describes something, but there is no subject-verb relationship; (3) it may have most of the makings of a sentence but still be missing an important part of a verb string; and (4) it may even have a subject-verb relationship, but it has been subordinated to another idea by a dependent word and so cannot stand by itself.
Regardless of the rationale, fragmented sentences have tendencies of creating confusion, miscommunication, and ineffective transmission of messages. Well spoken and written languages should follow the correct grammatical rules to avoid communication problems.
3. Procrastination
Procrastination means deferring or delaying action till another day or time. There have been several studies identifying the causes of procrastination – from being perfectionist, to having negative feelings and anger at the time when one is supposed to undertake certain tasks. In this regard, when one has identified the exact cause for procrastination, the person would be able to move on and to take positive action in preventing it to happen. One of the recommended measures to address procrastination is to take small steps, to wit: “remind yourself to take small steps, as each small step makes up the bigger picture. It will also help you to plan out your work schedule, and make the work seem a lot more manageable and less threatening. Similarly, even for tasks which you think are very straightforward, it is a good idea to break it down into small and manageable steps.” ( 2009). It is also important to have a positive mindset and to focus on the activities that need to be done according to schedule.
4. Time Management
Time management is the most efficient way of reducing stress and reclaiming ones personal life. By planning the activities in one’s day, one would accomplish more and focus on the tasks that need to be accomplished according to the set schedule. By determining the tasks that need to be done, one can assign those which could be delegated to others. Large, time-consuming tasks could be broken down into smaller tasks until they are totally done. The practice of working a little bit everyday for assignments could be effective as long as identified portions are accomplished and not left until the last day.

...1. Culture exists in constant transition. It changes every year and for every generation there is a brand new type of it. Modern culture is often referred to as the one lacking proprieties and integrity. Indeed, there is an obvious vacuity of accountability and respect in modern culture and the most convincing evidence of this fact is, to my mind, modern language. I believe that coarse and profane language has always been a part of any culture, but it was banned and considered rude and ill-mannered. However, nowadays we may witness an excessive amount of such lexicon used openly and without any embarrassment. In my point of view, the best example of my words is music industry. Lyrics to modern popular songs almost always include... Culture...

...Response to posts on the effect of personnel selection March 13, Response to posts on the effect of personnel selection Response to Shelia’s post I wish to expand your post by explaining a legal implication of job evaluation. The post should have therefore extended to state such an example of the implications and not just legal provisions that identify the implications. Comparing the example for financial implication and legal implication illustrates this. For financial implication, job analysis requires implementation... of...

Many proposals have been drafted with the aim of simplifying the tax code. For instance, the flat tax where income is to be taxed at a flat rate. They propose that such a system would generate the same tax as current systems or even more. Further, such a system is easier to comprehend. My response to this proposal is that I do not believe or support the idea that everyone should be taxed at the same rate.
