The private life of Michael Jackson Every inch of step of a movie star is news to the millions of fans. And so, Michael Jackson’s life has been recorded in many times, from his childhood up to this time, when he is now 50 years old. And yet, do we really understand him? To me, he is a man who cannot carry the weight of being rich and famous, and slowly he is declining himself to self destruction. Let us search his private life to see his desperations or aspirations and hope in life, and I will describe him in the way I look at him as a man. Michael Jackson, a lonely man. Michael Jackson is a lonely man, and as a lonely man, he had attempted suicide in December 2005. He said, “People think they know me, but they dont. Not really. Actually, I am one of the loneliest people on this earth. I cry sometimes, because it hurts. It does. To be honest, I guess you could say that it hurts to be me.? (ImDB) His family, marriage and children. He had a failed marriage with the daughter of another famous singer in his time, Elvis Presley. His marriage with Liza Presley shocked the world, and yet many were happy to see him married. This marriage lasted only for nineteen months, and ended with a divorce. He did not have a child with Liza Presley. (BBC news, 2004) He wanted children and likes to have children of his own, so he married Debbie Rowe to become the mother of his children. Michael paid Debbie a handsome amount of money to bear him children. Debbie bore her two children thru artificial insemination and did not have physical sex relation with her. Prince Jackson and Paris Jackson are now ten and nine years old and remain to be in the custody of Michael. Michael managed to keep his children away from the press for a long time, but a picture has been sneaked in and shown in this report. A dramatic scene was reported when wife Rowe delivered the second baby and Michael took the baby right away even when she was still bloodied and umbilical cord still intact. Michael divorced Debbie when he was told she could no longer give him another child after two years of marriage. He said, “I have spent my entire life helping millions of children across the world. I would never harm a child. It is unfortunate that some individuals have seen fit to come forward and make a complaint that is completely false. Years ago, I settled with certain individuals because I was concerned about my family and the media scrutiny that would have ensued if I fought the matter in court. These people wanted to exploit my concern for children by threatening to destroy what I believe in and what I do. I have been a vulnerable target for those who want money.(IMdb) The admiration of his fans did not diminish in spite of these charges; however, different opinions are starting to be formed about his strange behavior. He was shown in the court to be thin and seemed to have lost so much weight. (Shukor, Steven, 2005) His physical transformation The years from 1984 to 2004 showed his physical transformation. When he was 21 years old, his color, face and appearance was from that of an African-American boy who nose is pug as with any one else. He slowly changed his color and face from his first appearance in 1984, completely erasing his former self. Many have wondered why the transformation is necessary. He said it is because of skin discoloration sickness. Yet, he has the money, doctors around him and yes, plastic surgery. But the body can only endure so much, and too much surgery and medication will give its toll to the frail human body structure. The changes on his face are not permanent as every now and then there is something new when he comes out for pubic appearance. Some doubts his gender affiliation which shows more femininity in shape and voice. His charities Michael is more humane than anyone else because at the height of his success, he had thought of the “Heal the World Foundation which spearheaded airlifts of food and medical supplies to war-torn Sarajevo, instituted mentoring, immunization and drug-abuse education programs and paid for a Hungarian childs liver transplant.”(IMDB) Report said that Michael had given $300 million to charity, more than any other celebrity apart from Oprah Winfrey. (IMDB) Closest friends. His closest friends who helped him all the way and stood as godparents to his children include Elizabeth Taylor, Nicole Richie and MacCauley Culkin. He referred to Elizabeth Taylor “as a warm cuddly blanket that I love to snuggle up to and cover myself with. I can confide in her and trust her. Shes Mother Teresa, Princess Diana, the Queen of England, and Wendy.” (IMDB) Michael is also bothered by abuses and sickness. He was not spared of abuse when he was a child He told Ophrah Winfrey in an hour long interview the physical abuse he suffered from his father. When asked about the changes in his skin appearance, Michael said it is caused by a health condition called Viltilgo. (BBC News) Awards and distinction. Perhaps, Michael Jackson is one of the known artists who have received the most number of awards in his profession as a singer. He was declared the most famous person in the world in 1997 by a survey, more famous than Pope John Paul II and then US President Bill Clinton His records have sold over 300 million copies worldwide; and at the peak of his career, he was reportedly worth around $700 million. Michael as a businessman. Few know him to be a businessman. But perhaps, he is not a successful one along this line, because in October 2002 ”it was revealed by various international banks that Jackson was in financial debt into the tens of millions of dollars due to various unpaid loans.” (IMDB) Signs of retirement Citing weariness from publicity, Jackson announced his intention to retire from the music industry.
