My educational path has been challenging and at the same time immensely rewarding.  I am inspired by an internal desire to succeed as well as by a need to help others.  I have a well-rounded background and a diverse set of skills which I hope to bring to _________insert name of school here _______.  The skills that I acquired early on in my academic career have served me well throughout the duration of my high school studies.  I have overcome significant challenges to get where I am today and I am thankful for the opportunity to attend _________insert name of school here _______.  I hope to obtain the skills that I need to pursue the career that I have also wanted and believe that with your help this is possible.   With an academic background as well as a well-rounded social life, the following will highlight my diverse experiences to date.

It is true that diversity helps give us the tools we need to succeed in life and as a sophomore in high school reflecting back on my experiences, I believe that my well-rounded approach to academic life makes me an ideal candidate for  _________insert name of school here _______.  I am presently a member of the Key Club in high school and also act as a buddy to younger grade school kids.  In my capacity as a buddy, I act as a role model to younger students and do my best to teach them how to be both good students and good citizens.  I encourage them to take their homework seriously and encourage them to behave responsibly.  I have a strong work ethic and enjoy being a member of a team.  I am presently the captain of my school’s soccer team and have an excellent rapport with all team members. I am also a ski instructor at Whiteface Mountain, where I teach beginners as well as people with disabilities.

In addition to a strong academic and athletic background, I also volunteer my spare time at the local church.  As a volunteer, I am involved in organizing food drives as well as other fundraisers aimed at getting the community involved in the activities of the church.  My church work has led me to another volunteer opportunity and I presently volunteer at the community senior citizens’ home where I am a valued member of the non-permanent staff.

Over the course of my studies, I have learned a great deal and have acquired new skills and abilities.  In addition to learning in the classroom, I have also learned a lot through my sporting and volunteering endeavors.  As a well-rounded individual with a diverse set of skills and experiences, I look forward to attending _________insert name of school here _______.
