The balance between male and female, younger and more mature employees is an important contributor to the organizational culture of Australian Companies. Discuss and critique this statement. Today, organizations all over the world value diversity because it has its own benefits, such as bringing in different and divergent point of views, it can provide companies with a competitive advantage companies today are focusing more on leveraging diversity to achieve their corporate objectives. Having a diverse work force for companies mean getting more business and the benefits are expanded to all areas marketing, finance, research and development etc. Besides, companies also diversify because of some ethical response from the organization and it wants to be looked upon favorably in the eyes of all its stakeholders including the community at large. Diversity is not only in terms of caste, religion but also in other demographic factors such as age, education, gender etc. Here our focus and main concern is age and gender diversity and we strive to find out to what extent are they beneficial or a source of conflict among the organizations. Previously women were not a major part of the workforce, but now the trends have been changing, more and more women are entering the workforce. Acceptance of women is becoming the norm and myths such as women value family more than careers is also fast eroding. Similarly, young graduates are also entering the workforce thus sometimes replacing and at others working under the more experienced person, a myth about these younger people is that they lack commitment. In Australia the facts suggest the same; the population trends are changing and studies also show that the population is ageing and it is predicted that by 2051 around 25% of Australia's population will be aged 65 year or older; and also the number of women in the workforce has increased from 40% in 1979 to 53% in 2004.1 For companies to prosper and create a positive cultural climate they need to strike a balance between young and mature and also the male and female counterparts in the organization. To manage gender differences firstly, the acceptability levels of the women in workforce should be enhanced, besides policies in the organizations should be supportive of women and in their favor; some steps that are taken and should be taken by the companies is that women should be provided equal opportunity as men, there should be laws against bullying, unlawful harassment, career leave and parental leaves for women in times of dire need. Career development programs like men should also include women to develop and focus themselves on the path to progression and move up the organizational ladder. When managing the age diversity i.e. attaining a balance between younger and mature employees, one major factor is giving and taking respect. It should be realized that younger generation takes the organization forward, by providing new and latest views of changing trends and brings young ideas that are more creative; but on the other hand older employees also have their experiences that are far more important in running the organization and is important in keeping the strong cultural bond developed over the years in the organization intact. Older employees should not be replaced by younger employees but should be provided with opportunity in terms of flexibility to serve the organization as it fits with their changing lifestyle which is a requirement for their old age. Besides, they should also always be available to mentor and share their experiences with their juniors. Some Australian companies were observed to be working on areas such as embedding diversity into key employment policies and programs to advance equitable outcomes for women. They are striving to achieve a 95% agreement rate from their female survey respondents that their immediate supervisor genuinely supports equal opportunity by random sampling. The companies have already. Achieving similar rates of promotion for men and women at all levels. And many companies have now being achieving an over a 96% agreement rate from staff surveyed that the work environment is free from sexual harassment. The companies have also launched a breastfeeding policy. In the similar fashion organizational cultures are becoming more considerate towards the elders also; younger are supporting them in all the cases. Mission and vision is the most important thing to have to achieve the goal of myself. By the presentation and works I have done so far, those factors helped me to understand the concepts of the human resource management. I now decided to set my mission and vision for the future in my life. My vision is 'Be one of the best hotelier in Korea'. I have been studying English and hospitality to learn further more about hospitality in overseas and adapt them to my career in my home country. Nowadays it is very important that to learn an internationally, especially person who speak English is the most important thing so I started to study in Australia. Through studying hotel management and working in real hotel industry (restaurant), I met many co-workers, foreign friends. I have learnt how other friends from other countries do and think, and work as hoteliers. I have to complete Advanced Diploma course at William Blue Hotel School and obtain more of career experience. Before Studying Human Resource management from Mo Kader, I have only a little bit of idea about the human resource information systems. During approximately four months, he taught so many things about how to organized human resource information and how human resource development planning orientation programs socialization to companies values and achieve goals. I learnt how people are important and I realized in the future of my career, I will prioritize people, which would be my manager or my employees later on because especially hospitality is a people industry. Without having a good relationship between I and people, my career would not be succeed. Some of the hotel chains the world over include Achat Hotels Germany, Admiral Benbow Inns, Aerowisata Hotels & Resorts, Amrath Hotels & Restaurants, Amsterdam-Hotels, Atlantis Hotels & Resorts, Candlewood Suites, Days Inn, Hampshire Group, Hotels Concorde, Marriott International, New York City Hotels, and so many others.2 Some of the international job opportunities as provided by companies like the outdoor group, Edmund Park, the Escamp, etc. There is a growing demand for employees are very sales and customer service oriented, well spoken and self-confident. Positions include Passenger Agent (at the airport); Flight Attendant (on-board flights); Reservations Agent among others; well trained travel professionals are in high demand. Recent studies show consumers with higher levels of education and income often use the Internet to research travel products however many end up using the personalized services of a well trained travel professional who has the resources to recommend and book the best deal using unbiased comparison shopping. Good agents also provide essential information on constantly changing security procedures; passport, visa and health requirements; and explain the importance of travel insurance to ensure peace of mind. In the travel industry area some possible employment opportunities include: Vacation/Leisure Travel Consultant; Corporate (Business) Travel Consultant; or Niche Market Specialist e.g. Adventure (travel), Cruises, Weddings, Honeymoons, Spas, Luxury (Upscale), Sports, Cultural, Educational, and special tours for Seniors and "Baby Boomers". Employment opportunities also include Tour Operators: Employment opportunities include: Destination Representative - one who works abroad on contract generally in a warm sunny place looking after the needs of travelers; Tour Guide - one who guides or escorts a tour group organized by a tour operator; Reservation Agent - one who books travel arrangements; Sales, Marketing & Public Relations - every company needs great individuals to help develop new business. In cruise lines employment opportunities may include: Guest Services; Banking; Sales staff in shops; Servers, Bartenders or specialty areas e.g. Children's programs; Administrative Staff among others.In hotels and resorts positions may include working locally or abroad in: Guest Services, Front Desk, Reservations, Sales and Marketing among others.
