College is something that is described to young people as a life changing experience. The first year of college is supposed to be the hardest due to the radical change of moving from the safe high school environment into the unknown college atmosphere. My freshman year of college I attended Bellevue Community College. This university is small campus, but the quality of education was great. It was a tough first year for me. I did not enjoy the benefit of dedicating all my time towards my new college life.
I had to work full-time while at the same time being a full time student in order to pay for my college and living expenses. I moved out of my parent’s house in the process, thus I did get a change to enjoy the independence that college life brings to freshman student. My first year of college helped mature as an adult. For the first time in my life I was taking care of my personal needs and had the freedom to choose what my life would be without the interference of others. It was a difficult time; it was bit exhausting working and studying at the same time.
My academic performance was not the best, but I learned a lot in the process. I know what it takes to succeed in a university and I realize that if I am able to dedicate more time to my education I will perform a lot better the second time around. My immediate goal is to enroll once again in an accredited university in order to continue my educational journey towards obtaining a college degree that will prepare me for my professional future.
