E-commerce is growing speedily in the recent years. More and more people now purchase items online. In 2006, online spending in US increased 24% over2005 (Online spending tops $100 billion, 2007), and online spending in China surged 47% over 2005 (China Is No. 2 Online, 2007). The Internet and the increasing growth of electronic commerce (ecommerce) in themid-1990s rendered business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) relationships more interactive and applicable for travel-related businesses. This facilitated alterations in customer behaviors and attitude regarding travel products via integrative and mutually supportive means for information exchange (Adams et al, 1997). The development of the Internet, which significantly increased the use of ecommerce by airline companies during the mid-1990s, performed a crucial function in reducing distribution costs, in that it helped lower the ratio of fixed costs in the cost structure. Part B In this part I have selected three e-commerce web sites. And here it will be examined how these sites fulfill the main guidelines of Customer-Centric Web Site Design. The chosen web sites are given below: 1. Good http://pringles.co.uk 2. Moderate http://www.kettlechips.co.uk 3. Bad: http://www.phileasfogg.com/ Now one by one it will explore how much these sits have adherence to all guidelines. Site 1 Good http://pringles.co.uk Figure 8 Good site [source: http://pringles.co.uk] Pringles chips are a food product related site. Site designer have really worked hard to make it possible. All elements on the site have to be perceivable i.e. provide text for non-text content. Interface parts are in the content and are in operable form (i.e. right to use via a keyboard or keyboard interface) here if you use the site it also provides you TAB facility to move to next button or menu. You can also use other keys for assessing any thing. Information and data that is provided must be understandable i.e. text should not be ambiguous this point is design related. Here we talk about the font size its style and its readability level. Robust Contents have to be robust enough to work with old/present and future technologies i.e. will employ with old, new and future technology. If we open site on Firefox Explorer or Internet Explorer (old version) the site will gives the same result. So the designers of this site have concentrate on making it robust, and fast to open so user did not feel bad and he did not have to wait. Pringles used flash tool for the designing the pages of site while, Pringles website user interface is more attractive and bright. Usability: If we see the site in this prospective then we realised that site design for usability relies on maximizing advantage of customer. Here you got maximum data related to customer and its benefits so the site become more user friendly and easy to use for the customer The success of designing for usability needs both imaginative insight and focused principled exercise Effectiveness: Pringles site presents its data and products in a very effective way. They have used sharp images and colors for this, Efficiency: If we see in prospective we will came to know that site has delivered its data and information in better way Satisfactory service construct customer loyalty: Customer satisfaction is much more imported in E-Business site designers keep in mind these entire things and designed the site that provides you maximum satisfaction. Design site around how visitors will navigate the links: The site uses simple and efficient ways to handle the customer and also site visitors. You can have hyperlinks everywhere you can more anywhere freely and came back where you want. Site structures are simple and proper. There is no complication in its design and navigation. You can see where you are and how to go back from where you have come. Allow visitors to access information quickly: One of important thing that is customer learn-ability, if he/she able to get the information then he will satisfy and move forward with you. The site has much more in this prospective Site 2 Moderate http://www.kettlechips.co.uk Figure 2 Moderate site source[http://www.kettlechips.co.uk] Kettle chips is a food product related site. Kettle chips site used java script for its site development. Kettle chips site user interface is not enough attractive and completely different interface as compared to first site. They have used soft colors that a little bit look dull and non attractive. Here Information and data that is provided is not format that user feel easiness to navigate. Here information is provided a little bit ambiguous way. Here we talk about the font size its style and its readability level. Robust Contents are not robust enough to work with old/present technologies. If we open site on Firefox Explorer or Internet Explorer (old version) the site will gives the different result. Kettle chips used Java Script tool for the designing the pages of site. Usability: If we see the site in this prospective then we realised that site design for usability relies on maximizing advantage of customer. Here you got, not enough data related to customer and its benefits so the site becomes extra complex for a new user or customer. Effectiveness: Kettle chips present its data and products not in a very effective way. They have used dull and not so attractive images and colors for site designing. Efficiency: If we see in prospective we will came to know that site has delivered its data and information not in better way Satisfactory service construct customer loyalty: As told earlier that Customer satisfaction is much more imported in E-Business but here site designers have not keep this in mind and we got not so efficiently working site. Design site around how visitors will navigate the links: The site uses simple way handle the customer and also site visitors. You can have hyperlinks everywhere you can more anywhere freely and came back where you want but pages takes more time to load. That gives the feeling of tiredness to user. Allow visitors to access information quickly: One of important thing that is customer learn-ability, if he/she able to get the information then he will satisfy and move forward with you. The site has not concentrate on this thing more. Here links are given are not so accurate that customer easily access the information. Site 3 Bad: http://www.phileasfogg.com/ Figure 9 Bad design site source [: http://www.phileasfogg.com/] Phileasfogg site is a food product related site. Phileasfogg site has used flash tool for site design. Phileasfogg site user interface is not really attractive. They have used dark colors and text on the links is not readable that a little bit look dull and non attractive. Here loading speed of page is also slow and it take long time to load. And also if did not have flash plug-in then its few features are not accessible to you. Here Information and data that is provided is not format that user feel easiness to navigate. Here information is provided a little bit ambiguous way. Here we talk about the font size its style and its readability level. It is realized that using more colors can distract attention. So they have used lot of colors and text is not easily readable on some pages. Robust Contents are not robust enough to work with old/present technologies. If we open site on Firefox Explorer or Internet Explorer (old version) the site will gives completely different result. On firefox this site take a little bit less time and its more features are more bitterly appealed. But in internet explorer it gives completely different results. Usability: If we see the site in this prospective then we realised that site design is compromised for usability. Here data that is given is not so important for customer. Customer related information such as product price and product features are not presented well. Effectiveness: Phileasfogg have not better site design or the information that is better for a customer prospective. So in this prospective the site design is not providing Effectiveness. Efficiency: site is not providing efficiency not in it working and nor in its customer handling, the design and working both are not at efficient level. Satisfactory service constructs customer loyalty: here customer not able to navigate properly he have to think and concentrate. But usability main motto is “don’t make me think”. Here this point is not taken seriously. Design site around how visitors will navigate the links: navigation is not better, when you goes to some inner link then going to pervious or some specific page is not possible. Allow visitors to access information quickly: this feature is also not so better here in site. Payment Systems: For setting up a shopping cart on your web page you have to Login to your Paypal bank account and place up the Payment retort as per the commands on the Paypal recompense Response web page. This will make sure that Fast-Cart be able to mail you the deal emails with customer and order particulars. Note that the fee reply was previously recognized as the "Callback". Then Login to the Fast-Cart Control Panel web page and place: your all data and personal information. Now make Buy Now or Add to Cart links or push button on your website. Create test dealings through Paypal. Make confident the whole thing works as predictable. At what time testing is full, ask for start from Paypal. If every thing is fine, Paypal will put your Paypal bank account to "live" and inquire you to alter test-Mode to 0. Advance your website. Work Cited Adams, D., Nelson, R. R., & Todd, P. A.
