The problem is not a 20th or 21st century phenomenon but rather has been in existent for centuries; thus, if a radical change in global fiscal and economic policies that aim to balance the distribution of land and wealth, then Middle Eastern violence will never abate and will continue up to the succeeding generations. What is Hamas? Hezbollah? Islamic Jihad? What are the differences between them? Are these groups a threat to the United States? If so, how so? Under what circumstance, if any, should we negotiate with terror groups such as these?

Hamas, acronym of Harakat al-Muqawamah al-Islamiyyah ("Islamic Resistance Movement"), is a Palestinian anti-occupation organization closely related to the Muslim Brotherhood (Who are Hamas, 2006). Hizballah is an Islamic movement founded after the Israeli military seizure of Lebanon in 1982, which resulted in the formation of Islamic resistance units committed to the liberation of the occupied territories and the ejection of Israeli forces (Hizballah/Hizbollah/Hizbullah/Hezbollah, 2006).
