“The law of universal gravitation states that gravitational force between masses decreases with the distance between them, according to an inverse-square law” (Wikipedia). The gravitational force will be greater if the object’s mass is greater.
Moon revolves around the earth and at different points, it's in crescent shape or full moon or half. When the moon is in between the earth and the sun then solar eclipse occurs.
When visible light enters in earth’s atmosphere, it's like light traveling through a prism where it is scattered into different colors. Thus propagating its different properties.
Electromagnetic waves travel at the same speed as that visible light. Infrared, gamma rays, etc are examples.
Terrestrial planets are those under the asteroid belt: Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. Jovian Planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Terrestrial planets are much smaller in size when compared to Jovian Planets. Jovian Planets take a much longer time for revolving around the sun and rotating on their own axis.
Comets are made of ice, rock, and different organic compounds where as meteorite is made of space rocks that are left by comets. When a meteor enters the earth’s atmosphere it ignites, which is called a meteor and when it hit the earth it is called a meteorite.
One of the important theories for continental drift and plate tectonics is that Earth is constantly moving (revolution and rotation) and the landscapes have to adjust themselves to this phenomenon. Because of this process continental drift and plate tectonics are occurring. When carefully observed on the globe the continents are once upon a time one huge landscape.
The major surfaces of the moon are craters, highlands, and lighter and darker areas. The temperatures in lighter areas are very high and in darker areas very low. It is believed thousands of centuries ago moon was covered with volcanic eruptions.
Venus is much closer to the sun than earth. That is the reason its atmosphere is very hot compared to that of earth. Most of its terrain consists of volcanoes that are taller than Mount Everest. Lava flows like a river in Venus.
