Due to infertility problems, the no. of children in the population is also declining which has changed the population from young to old. This trend demands important changes in the social planning agenda of the country. Another requirement for the social planning division is to address the trend of migration of the ageing and after retirement population to the coastal towns. It is important to address the economic, health and social issues of this ageing population and to understand both the ways in which older people can contribute more to the region’s success and where and when they need to be reached, supported and included, now and in the future.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the people who have been instrumental in the completion of this paper. First, my mentor, who has been very patient in guiding me throughout this undertaking. I would also like to thank all the people who helped me in conducting the survey and provided me with valuable knowledge. I would also like to thank my friends and loved ones who have supported me until the completion of the paper. Lastly, I would like to thank our Lord Almighty for giving me the fortitude to accomplish this feat.

To you be all the glory! Chapter 1 describes the purpose and ‘research question’ and then explains, in a summary form the structure and content of the dissertation as a whole including, the rationale for choosing the topic, the analytical method and the main findings of the study. Chapter 2 presents the literature review of the material available related to the topic such as demographic data on British retirement migration to the Coastal town especially to Skegness. Further, the chapter discusses ‘push’, ‘pull’ and tourism-related motivations for migration.

Chapter 5 reviews the study and considers the results and remedies. The chapter considers all the related cultural, political, and economic factors, which have given, rise to the trend and takes an in-depth look at the issues related to the migration process.
