It seems that the male population is less inclined to stay on their current jobs than the female population. The organization can target the male population in its efforts to retain employees. In this regard, the organization can perhaps target the administration department. An 8% chance of a male working in IT means most of the male work in the administration and the human resource department, and the human resource is only a small department of the company comprising 3.

82% of the company.The mean overall job satisfaction of the male employees was 4.43 on a scale of 1-7 with 7 being the highest while the mean overall job satisfaction for the female employees was 4.26. The organization can target the female population in its efforts to increase job satisfaction perhaps by methods such as job sharing, paid time-off for family, child-care facilities, etc. This is especially important in light that there exists a 79% chance that an individual, randomly picked from the database will be female while there is a 50.

7% chance that any randomly picked employee will be aged between 22 and 49 years old, the group that has most family commitments. Correlational research is concerned with measuring the strength and direction of the linear relationship between two random variables as measured by the correlation coefficient (Daniel and Terrell, 1995; Watson et al., 2005). It is dimensionless and it may assume any value between -1 and 1, inclusive (Daniel and Terrell, 1995). If the correlation coefficient is either -1 or 1, the variables have a perfect linear relationship in that all of the points lie exactly on a straight line.

If the correlation coefficient is near -1 or 1, there is a high degree of linear association. A positive correlation means that as one variable increases, the other likewise increases. A negative correlation means that as one variable increases, the other decreases. If the correlation between two variables is 0, the variables are uncorrelated and that there is no linear relationship between them. A caveat that the correlation only measures linear relationship. The variables may be perfectly correlated in a curvilinear relationship, but the correlation coefficient can still equal zero.

Correlational research involving two variables implies that both variables have equal status. It does not distinguish between them on the basis of dependence and independence (Daniel and Terrel, 1995). Job satisfaction and work stress might be negatively correlated. Numerous studies (see for example Shugerman et al., 1001 and Simoens et al., 2002) have shown that the lower the work stress, the higher the job satisfaction. From a statistical viewpoint, if job satisfaction and work stress are both independent, i.e. each of them is not dependent on the other in the context of calculating correlation, then the condition that the job satisfaction is dependent on work stress or vice versa is not followed.

So there is a common case that causes both. That cause might be fit of the employee to the job, perhaps caused by suitable education, experience, and aptitude.REFERENCESDaniel, W.W. and Terrell, J.C.
