Academia Academia Research 5 March 2006 Marketing Gillette Gillette today is a brand with importance, every men is in the favor of using Gillette, as it is the slogan of the company that says, "Gillette- the best a man can get", the disposable blades that Gillette invented changed over the years in accordance to their packaging and style, design etc, the product's core purpose always remained the same however it changed its shape in many ways, it was a single blade wrapped in a piece of paper and it steadily changed it self, from a single piece to a single pack containing few pieces, from a movable blade cartridge to more changed cartridge containing more blades, it kept on changing and still it is changing. The product simplified the use of blade, in a men's society where every body rushes for work and seek quick face service in the morning or at any time, Gillette proved to be very helpful in giving service in an easy manner, it kept on moving from simple to even more simplified. The 4Ps of marketing named product, place (distribution), price, and promotion helped in marketing Gillette, firstly the product that was having extraordinary features in it was it self an attraction, the distribution was done through normal hiring of distributors in U.S. and afterwards the company launched it internationally, the pricing system was cost based, means that it was on the basis of per unit cost, with some profit on it, and promotion was done by the store display as advertisement had not gained popularity. Ford Henry Ford was a one in million entrepreneur and also an inventor, he was the first one to make assembly line manufacturing for mass production of the affordable automobiles of that time, car was a luxury from ages but it was Ford who gave them another perception, he made it so easy for us to travel, the product that is the car was in the simplest stage at the time of invention, though he had given it so many shapes and features like cars being used for fishing, cars being used for traveling etc. the product kept on changing and it has become the basic of today's world, Ford made so many changes in its outlook and helped the people in using simple and now most simplest cars having very high features and wonderful designs and also the engine capacity has changed as well, though the modernization was never expected this way. The people of old times were just concerned with the core product that was to travel the distance through some means with some standard but than came so many models that now Ford has become a status symbol, though there are so many other cars available in the market but it seems that one is legend while driving the Ford. The 4ps played even a bigger role in making sure that Ford is the most valuable car in the market, the product had so many new features, designs, style, quality was even good in comparison with the other cars of that time, the distribution was done in the entire U.S. on the basis of normal distribution through the transport services, pricing was done while keeping the value of the product, it was value based pricing that was used, and as the product was so unique and wonderful and everybody would have loved to buy it thus the promotion was done through good and effective store display (Showroom display), personal selling had also played some role but afterwards. TV Dinner Gerry Thomas invented TV Dinner while he was working for Swanson, he was criticized severely but he did not show any intimidation and he invented TV dinner, a packaged frozen meal that can be ready to eat at any time, the product was a creative thinking's outcome and it simplified the human life in many ways particularly the working class of U.S. which was in need of some thing that would not be consuming much of their time and can also be used till so many days and weeks. The product was initially a simple pack of aluminum foil having various foods in it such as turkey, but in modern day life it changed from foil to a tin pack and now to a big pack with some fancy packaging. The American society was always having a very hectic schedule in their lives as they all believe in working as their first preference, so in order to keep their health they had to consume healthy food which they had no time to prepare for, so the invention of TV dinner got their attention and people started recognizing it, and now from busy schedule they started having good meals, which was what they always wanted, today the consumption of TV Dinner is much more than the home prepared food. About 4ps, TV dinner was supported at almost every stage after its invention, the product which is having a core purpose of food hunger, had few basic features at the time of invention, had no such design and also the quality of food was not excellent, the distribution was done again in a normal manner by hiring distributors which is a middleman and the pricing was based on the unit cost method having some profit on it, the promotion was not done in an extraordinary way but pamphlets and push strategy was used to make the product more common. Dell Michael Dell appeared to be an extremely successful entrepreneur and a business tycoon, he invented personal computers and gave them a new shape, this was the only extraordinary thing done by him, people were unaware of small PCs and computers were only used by big organizations having vacuum tubes in them, though the computers were available in small sizes but not had gained popularity, Dell had seen an opportunity and thus he took a decision to work on his idea, the shape of PCs was not that good but once the struggle started every thing kept on becoming better and better and the company also launched laptops in 1993. Dell's invention had extremely positive impact on people's mind and life, the technology is known to be the success's key in the modern world and that technology was brought in by Dell, people had now started using PCs at their homes, and it was also a solution to many problem, the invention gave opportunity to the people to work independently at their home and not only work but also it supported as an entertainer to them. The 4Ps played the most important role in the development and popularity of Dell PCs, the product was having features that were enough to recognize it as an extraordinary invention, there were no specific distribution channels in the beginning as Dell used to prepare it on order from companies and he also exported his manufacturing, the prices were again set on the bases of value, so it was value based pricing, and the promotion was done through personal selling and public relations that he was having at the time and so he started making PCs.
