Howard Rice - Bookkeeper/Database...
Since the organization has not yet decided which applications it wishes to use for generic things such as client relationship management and diary management, I have indicated that they could use either a spreadsheet, database, electronic diary manager built into the email function, or in some cases a simple list in a Word Processed document.

MS Office has all the functionality they require, but one must first establish what applications they had used before, and focus on similarity to graphical user interface, ease of use and the amount of intuitive automation available.

The next step would be backward compatibility with the applications currently in use - data conversion or data entry simply adds to the scope of the project and the costs. I would then look at licensing costs for 5 users and support options available to assist them as they configure the software to suit their working practices.

Ultimately I would be concerned with scalability and longevity of the workgroup application chosen. For example, whilst MS Office is not to everyone's taste it is compatible with most software and operating systems, with a strong user base and relatively small learning curve because the user interface is very similar between the various applications. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Quasi-Experimental Designs

...? Application of Quasi Experimental Designs: A Case Wise Study Research designs are not only to be studied in theory; but they do have an important role to play in deciding the way data collected for a study will be interpreted. The research design helps us identify the strengths and weaknesses of the study and the extent to which the results of a particular study are applicable in said situations. In the succeeding examples; the methodology helps us understand how to interpret the results of the studies. Study 1 demonstrates that women perform more poorly, on average, than men perform on the mathematics section of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).  Wainer, H., Steinberg, L. S., (1992). Designs

... lives and the way they do things. Through Apple, a company he headed, he was able to come up with designs such as Macintosh operating software, ipad, iPod, and iphone; with these designs the world was able to do things in a different way (Isaackson, 2011). Among his designs, iPad, iPod and iphone caught my particular attention, in my opinion, these designs connect creativity and technology; therefore, they define good designs. The continued improvement of each of these designs stirs up the need to improve computer technology even further. The iPod is a design which was started as a project by Steve Jobs; this project was focused on the creation of a tablet PC. Futuristic Theory in Designs

...Futuristic Theory in Designs Recently, designers have posed questions that entertain and provoke thought through the language of design. They have used their design language mostly to transport their audience’s imagination to parallel and probable worlds. They have mostly done their predictions through futurology; the science and art of postulating the possible, the probable, and the preferable future and world view as well as underlying myths. In this paper, futuristic theory will be used to analyse designs done by Dunne and Raby. The Foragers, Stop and Scan, Afterlife and EM Listeners will be the designs that will be analysed in the paper. The four designs are a representative of four significant concerns: the state of food security...

Airplanes Designs

... Airplanes Designs and how are they affect the performance of the airplane How Airplanes Designs affect the performance of the airplane Airplanes Designs have an influence on the performance of an aircraft, considering that it is through the design that the ability of the airplane to takeoff, fly, to land, to increase the speed and to ensure that the safety of the travelers is enhanced (Wragg, 22). The major difference between the ancient aircraft models and the ones that are operating currently is based on the designs of the ancient aircrafts, which limited the speed that the ancient aircrafts could fly, while also having an interior design that did not offer sufficient protection for the travelers (Anderson, n.p.). However, the major...

Hypothetical Designs

...Introduction Research design Research design is an integral part of the research process which involves making a number of rational decisions. It usually comes after a researcher has successfully identified variables and has established a theoretical framework. Research design involves some basic steps which are discussed below. Research study can be exploratory, descriptive, hypothesis testing or just a case study analysis. The nature of the study basically depends on the fact that to which stage has knowledge of the researcher advanced; while conducting the research. Exploratory studies are for example conducted on issues that are relatively new, aiming at gaining more generic information without solving any problems. When a researcher...

Research Designs

...Research Designs Research studies provide valuable data that helps in understanding phenomenon and devising applications and treatments. But a badly executed research study can provide contaminated data that can lead to misleading conclusions. Thus, it is necessary that a research study be designed such that it collects the most accurate data and reduces the chances of error to the minimum. A good research design has four component parts, each of which helps in enhancing the quality of the study and reducing errors (Frankfort-Nachmias & Nachmias, 2008). 1) The study allows us to compare conditions such that effects of one variable on another can be verified at various levels. 2) It allows for the manipulation of the Independent Variable...

Sigmund Freuds Creative Thinking

...Sigmund Freud’s Creative Thinking The of Sigmund Freud is not unfamiliar to most people in the modern world regardless of their level of education. This name has become synonymous with psychoanalysis, the science he essentially invented at the beginning of the 19th century. Originally trained as a neurologist, Freud’s work with his patients, frustrated by a mediocre ability to hypnotize, necessarily took on a more imaginative turn that revolutionized the way people approached the treatment of the mind (Robbins, 1999). Although others had been doing work to understand the inner workings of the mind before him and others have come after him to refine and build on his theories, as well as add theories of their own, Freud is generally...

Creative Arts: Eduard Manets Painting Olympia

Faced with this painting today and many art aficionados concentrate on the representations indicated within the content as well as the intuitive leap into modernism represented in Manet’s style.  This vast difference in reaction over time is not necessarily simply a process of desensitization – the painting has now been part of the public sphere for more than 100 years – or of the 20/20 hindsight of the emerging modernist styles.   It is instead largely due to the changing nature of social ideals, expectations, and beliefs of the community. This changing viewpoint is thus not limited to the passing of time but expands to include any difference in focus. While the painter will see one aspect of the paint...

Creative Strategies in a Shoes Company

...Creative Strategies in a Shoes Company After surveying the information as well as the numerous decisions we would need to make, my company’s strategy was to make some small decisions in the beginning to test the market’s reaction. I saw many opportunities in all markets and wanted to try to take advantage of those opportunities as quickly as possible but without losing any of our current customers. One of the main issues I saw in the beginning was the variety of pairs of shoes that we sold. It was believed that over 100 pairs of shoes would be enough variety. I knew that we needed to increase the offerings but wanted to make that decision after operating for a few years at a profit. Every competitor was a threat to undercut our...

...Directions and Futures of the Creative Industries The creative industries are booming at full throttle. This is because creativity knows nothing elsethan mere innovation and new insight that comes to the fore through the incorporations and undertakings of the chosen few. It is a fact that creativity demands time and energy to come through because it is never seen as something which remains as a spur of the moment exercise. The creative industries emanate from the art and design quarters where their role is of immense significance. This is because art and design avenues make use of the creativity premise more often than not. The directions and futures of creativity and indeed the creative industries depend a great deal on the people who...

Cognitive and Social Characteristics of Selected Creative Persons

The disciplines of cognitive and personality psychologies are fields that emphasize the uniqueness of an individual in terms of behavior and ideas. While the core essence of a creative person is to think of unique ideas and engage in unique behavior, personality psychology studies what makes such gifted people unique and possess such individual differences from the rest of the population. As such, both disciplines are essential in studying a gifted person by focusing on the stability and consistency of people, with a view of determining the presence or absence of uniqueness. It is thus normal that the field of personality psychology undertakes to focus its attention on a section of the population whose salient traits are their uni...
