The purpose of the meeting: our company supposes that marketing quality must not be limited to product improvements alone. It must be integrated into a firm's pricing, promotion, and distribution strategies as well. The purpose of the meeting is to identify and discuss the main quality requirements, product characteristics, possible changes in quality, quality processes and procedures important for both sides, quality measurement programs and control (Moorman, Turner, 1994; Robbins, 2004).

The first step has been to identify the pieces that must at least be understood before we can successfully begin. The next step, then, is to develop an idealized, generic model that gives us a clear idea of the whole that we are shooting for when we begin implementation. It must be specific enough to allow us to identify action steps. At the same time, however, it must be general enough so that any type of organization can apply it effectively (Knack, 2004).
In order to be more successful, we need an approach that helps replace or combine our short-term orientation with a long-term one; discourages in-house competition for resources; helps generate consensus on priorities; encourages the necessary integration; effectively reads and reacts to the organization's increasingly turbulent environment; and does not impose unrealistic demands on those required to translate corporate objectives, as defined, into reality.
(a) Process standardization The question arose of whether maintenance should have a team of its own or whether representatives should act as a resource to the other divisional teams. With input from the heads of PS&D and maintenance, it is eventually decided that this function should have its own team and should deal initially with issues internal to its own operation. This arrangement would allow maintenance personnel to concentrate first on their own procedures and equipment needs. It would allow them also to design, from their own perspective, the desired relationship with the storeroom and the production units they served before involving other stakeholders (Johnston 2003). A major purpose of the team building effort is to improve relations between the hourly work force and management. Having the two sides join together in a problem-solving effort is a step in this direction. The quality control consultants should meet with the team and review its conversations with the department supervisors.
(b) New technologies Information technologies must be integrated into the entire production process (from initial designs through marketing to final sales and supporting services such as maintenance). To do this requires the office, the factory, the retail store, and the repair service to have workers with levels of education and skill they have never needed in the past. Every production worker must be taught some principles of operations research to employ statistical quality control. (Frame, 2003; Senior,2001).

Quality Systems in the Public Sector: A Study of Quality Initiatives in the NHS, Scotland

The disintegration of some service provisions covered by the public sector is the cause of concern. In some cases where services, earlier provided by public sector organizations, were privatized led to the dramatic change in the quality and cost of service. This makes a study of concepts of quality management in the context of the public sector necessary to understand the reasons behind the ‘market failure’ of public sector service providers.

The problems that assail these services are inherent in any government enterprise such as lack of coordination, slow decision making, inflexibility, lack of incentive to perform and so on. Consider the following observation of Joseph Stiglitz (1998).

The Quality Of Water in Our Ecological System

The first article is titled ‘Water quality report targets phosphorus’ and it has been written by Susan Milton for the Cape Cod Times. It is a recent article since it first appeared in the month of August 2007 and there are several implied messages in the article itself. The first one which comes across directly within the title is the idea that phosphorus can hurt the quality of water in a region and the writer is quick to note that, “If you want an easy way to help the environment, use a phosphorus-free dishwashing detergent (Milton, 2007, Pg. 1)”.

It is indeed quite successful in passing on this message because the readers are given results of a scientific study which shows that chemicals such...

Total Quality Management

The premise of Total Quality Management was laid out by Deming as fourteen principles, which emphasize the importance of quality and a focus upon the customer in internal operations. (Anonymous, 2006). Deming’s approach requires that continuous improvements take place with the training of employees so that it results in the reduction of costs and thus helps an organization compete more effectively in the marketplace. This approach also calls for increased levels of innovation, diffusion, and adoption in management (Ehigie and McAndrew, 2005). It is the innovation that helps an organization to gain a competitive edge over its rivals in the marketplace by developing new ideas but the process of diffusion helps to ensure that t...

A random survey was appropriate for the research given the constraint of time. According to Ching, the research was done in Bunker Hill community college (45). This was a two-year college; hence it was plausible to consider a four-year college in order to obtain reliable deductions. The research carried out was objective given that the results and deductions were obtained in two different days and at different intervals. It was easy to analyze the primary data obtained because it was tabulated in a spreadsheet, which provided a suitable view of the deductions made in the field. A number of factors may cause a lack of parental involvement. Parents do not participate because of poverty, or drug and alcoholism. Teachers in public sch...

Meeting the Challenges of Global Terrorism

According to a write-up by the state department of the USA, there is no single definition for terrorism that has been accepted or which explains what exactly terrorism is (Wardlaw, 1990, p.6). The research on a precise universal definition has posed challenges to both practitioners and researchers. Although many attempts have been done to define this global problem, no consensuses have been reached. The fact that the name terrorism is being used to any violent act makes it very challenging to offer a clear definition that will separate normal violent acts from terrorism. The term terrorism is a fad word that nobody can put limits on.

Some researchers believe that terrorism is the deliberate creation of fear and exploita...
