Below are various experiences of which the senior enlisted force underwent in order to facilitate the recording and expansion of the history of NCO (Weigley& Russell Frank vol 323). To begin with the enlisted force underwent an enlisted qualified military education which equipped them with essential knowledge for the expansion of NCO mostly in matters dealing with military. More venues for education were also created for the air force where its members could continue getting their education for example the service created the Extension Course Institute (ECI) which provided a correspondence for all its members. The senior enlisted forces started indulging in other roles apart from the usual role of being mechanics they started working as radio operators, clerks, armorers, welders and photo technicians, the knowledge gained by the photo technician was in turn very essential in recording the history of NCO. These enlisted servers in various specialised occupations like the aircraft metal workers rapidly upgraded their skills due to the rapid evolution of technology dealing with aircraft this would in turn lead to a complex and sophisticated aircraft in the service hence being able to expand it. In the late 1930s the enlisted senior officers served as gunners who in turn joined the pilot officer and played an important role during the world war two, this experience gained really played a big role in the NCO expansion. In the mid-1990s several people belonging to the office of the sergeant chief master of the air force worked as biographical sketches, they primarily engaged in publishing materials these sketches instilled careers in each of the men who served in the United States air force. Enlisted senior officers who were authors wrote essays dealing with diverse aspects such as the different roles of the enlisted uniform, enlisted education as well as training and also role of the first sergeant all this was used in the preservation of history in the NCO. They also focused on pilot planes and the various use of air power, by the use of professional pilot planes they were now able to counter attack their enemies easily from the air which was a major key in the growth and expansion of NCO. The senior non-commissioned officers played an important role in supporting the vision for its enlisted force by providing a day to day leadership on the ground level which helped them in putting together all the challenges they faced and the ones that confronted the service as whole. Senior enlisted forces were required to have a certificate showing that the trainee had gained proficiency in the maintenance of the airframe and also the repair, construction and maintenance of the engines, upon earning the certificates they could now be viewed as certified air mechanics. The aviation technicians played a role of training the enlisted airmen who served at that time, a time when technology in aircraft was rapidly advancing; this knowledge of the military airplane was also used by the NCO for the essence of expanding its history. As years moved on the enlisted trainees were now required to specialise on a certain training for example those dealing in mechanics were required to choose one are of specialising among the eight and forty seven functional groups and sub classifications subsequently where they could get the needed training. The Tuskegee airmen officer under the enlisted air force were pilots who helped in breaking down all the racial barriers in the general U.S military, since the African Americans were not given chances to serve as pilots officers, this role was very essential in expanding the non-commissioned officer history. Women were no longer discriminated and hence employed in the women army corps and later employed as enlisted officers, these women were also send to the noncombat institutions and they were also given the chance to be trained for the mechanical and technical jobs. The ability of the air corps to be able to recruit and also retain enlisted personnel with the highest quality stabilised the U.S economy, therefore recruitment and retention was much easier which made the NCO to be able to expand. The benefits and pay available for the enlisted personnel appeared to be much attractive and if the enlisted personnel increased their levels of skills their pay could also increase significantly this fact enticed them to work more hard therefore gaining more skills as well as experience. The enlisted leaders created distinctive service identification and its culture through recognising and utilising fully its NCOs. This unique service identification assisted in the expansion of the non-commissioned officer. In later years when NCO separated from the U.S military, the enlisted personnel played an essential role of addressing the NCO prestige and also stabilising its image, this also helped in its expansion in a great way since the non-commissioned officer could depend solely on only itself. The enlisted officers had a similar uniform with the air force, this created teamwork and the spirit of unity among the working personnel since the uniform no longer possessed the power of defining various enlisted personnel. An airman career program was introduced by the air force which was designed to accomplish two key goals for the enlisted personnel; these goals were establishing a career path for the enlisted career as well as tying promotion more closely to its merits unlike the army system before the second world war where promotions depended only upon vacancies in a particular unit. There were also tasks such as completion of important paper work that were under taken by the enlisted senior personnel such tasks were of relevancy due to the facts that they helped in preserving the various history of the non-commissioned officer. Education had become central to the enlisted USAF force professionalising therefore a premium was placed on retaining and recruiting the highly skilled and best educated enlisted personnel for this to be arrived at easily the air force added proficient military education to the already existing various categories of trainings. The NCO also opened schools for the enlisted personnel to study management and leadership skills where these personnel would be instilled with the essential skills for the better running and smooth operation of the force hence the expansion of NCO. The enlisted personnel were faced by a major challenge of inadequate housing due to their increasing numbers since some married and started their families therefore to solve this problem the National Housing Act stepped in and constructed several units for the force, airmen reported satisfaction. The (AWS) also referred to as the Air Weather Service was also an important unit that required various services from the enlisted personnel including the dropsonde operators as well as the technicians for flight management, this is also an experience for the enlisted force in urge to expand the non-commissioned officer. Another experience by the enlisted officer was offered by the (ARS) Air Rescue Service which required the enlisted personnel to maintain the services of the aircraft which included fixing the crafts wings and also providing the first medical aid to the rescued people. The enlisted recruits served also as photo interpreters and photo processors in particular units, this acted as an important role in the record keeping of history of the non-commissioned officer since the enlisted personnel already had knowledge in photo editing processes. The enlisted forces were also trained as missile technicians who therefore became responsible in the maintenance of all powerful weapons in the state of continuous readiness in preparation for the war. The military established a (DRI) Defence Race Institute which trained the equipped personnel and provided them with essential skills that would help them deal with racism and human related issues. The trained DRIs were then given the obligation to educate their fellow service members on the same issue. The air force also played an indirect role in the expanding of non-commissioned officer since it was legible in representing the enlisted officers at official social functions and other ceremonies where they would air the enlisted officers personal grievances on various military related issues, they also served as legal advisors to the air men as well as the soldiers. The enlisted personnel possessed the top positions and exercised their knowledge and skill in the Marine Corps, these gained skills in marine matters was also of much importance in expanding the history of NCO. The enlisted individuals had knowledge from the navy on various ways of studying the personnel issues in their diverse ranges specifically those that were responsible in affecting the retention. All of the above experiences by various enlisted personnel played essential and key roles for the non-commissioned officer in its urge of preserving its history for future referencing by its current and future generation. The ability of the enlisted work force to be able to indulge in photo processing provided a platform for all these, through other experiences like aviation engagement the NCO was able to expand in greater heights.
