The military troops were sent under the presidency of George W. Bush administration. The military was sent to Afghanistan on the basis of America’s interest to sustain peace and make sure that more attacks by Taliban government do not take place. The decision of United States to send its military troops to Afghanistan was accurate as it managed to compete with agents of Taliban in Afghanistan as its own government could not become successful in sustaining stability. The war in Afghanistan between Taliban and American military troops has become a very controversial issue in the modern times. This is due to the fact that there is no alliance in Afghanistan that is planning any threat to United States. It is due to the issue of Afghanistan that the new president Barack Obama have came across this issue to be the most crucial among all the problems required to resolve. Bill Moyer gave an overview of current situation of Afghanistan issue and America’s view during the interview session with Greg Mortenson, author of the book The Three Cup of Tea. Bill Moyer stated that “Beyond his demisting vows certainly the issue that has preoccupied president Obama the most since he took his office is Afghanistan”. The quote stresses on the need of rehabilitation plan rather than conducting foreign relations with the world to make sure that there is an avid democratic regime in the world. The need of the hour is rather in terms of rehabilitating those people who have no surety of their lives (PBS). The withdrawal of US military troops would be effective in terms of rehabilitating Afghanistan if there is some electorate body working in Afghanistan. It has been reported earlier by many writers and investigators who have spent time in Afghanistan during war time that Afghanis long to live a peaceful life. Such a claim can also be found probable as Greg Mortenson claimed in his book that, “If we try to resolve terrorism with military might and nothing else, then we will be no safer than we were before 9/11” (Mortenson 301). The rehabilitation plan is supposed to be integrated in a way that the children of Afghanistan who would be the coming future of Afghanistan, are provided with opportunity to acquire more education. As mentioned in the book by Greg Mortenson, “If we truly want a legacy of peace for our children, we need to understand that this is a war that will ultimately be won with books, not with bombs (Mortenson 301). With the integration of educational institutions Afghanistan can regulate the present government to the time when they will have a sound economy (PBS). The reason why America needs to take such an initiative to integrate a centralziaed government in Afghanistan is because of being responsible for ISAF-NATO forces in Afghanistan who have demolished the corrupted government of Taliban in Afghanistan. United States took the responsibility of removing terrorist group from South Asia, more specifically from Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is suggested that Pakistan and Afghanistan both deserve help in their educational institutions. The campaign led by Greg Mortenson has been appreciated and considered as actively in the claim by Seattle Post Intelligencer in Greg Mortenson states that “once there are pencils, let us use them as peaceful weapons in the war….camping in Pakistan and Afghanistan” (Mortenson). Following the same tradition, United States can play a vital role in rehabilitating Afghanistan. United States can do so by forming Afghan government and providing them with human capital to reach across its territory for the purpose of removing corruption. Afghanistan can become self-sufficient to meet its citizen requirements if they successfully make their own force.
