? Strategic importance of Israel 05/25 Strategic importance of Israel Israel has been progressing rapidly and one of the main reasons of stability in the Middle East is Israel. The Israel lobby endeavors to give a balanced view on Israel and America’s relations. War has always pervaded the country of Israel. Israel has been leveled to ground around seventeen times. Israel has also changed hands about eighty six times. It hasn’t changed much since Abraham set foot on it. This place of Israel has been in continuous tumult. Israel has persisted to rise and today Jerusalem is most eminent city of the globe again. No other city is as strategically important as Jerusalem today. Jerusalem was the city in which God select to live in. Of all the places in the world, God choose to reside in Jerusalem (Blackwill & Slocombe, 2011). The spiritual tension can be washed away in Israel today. There are many nations of Middle East Asia who are affected by Israel’s position in the world. Iran vowed to devastate Israel and on the edge of going nuclear. Syria also wants Golan Heights back to it and is preparing for war with Israel. At Gaza Strip, there are about three terrorist groups that have been united with the Hamas in an attempt to smack Israel. The Hezbollah terrorist group in Southern Lebanon has around three thousand missiles in Valley of Beqaa coming up to fire at Israel. Jordan, which was neutral in the past, is forecasting that regional combat with Israel on the horizon. Even though The West Bank experiences economic boom is in fidgety and terrorists are becoming strength and popularity now. Today, most Middle Eastern countries perceive Israel to be a reason of restlessness in the region (Blackwill & Slocombe, 2011). A vote was scheduled in United Nations which will circumvent national dominion of Israel. As the vote was passed, United Nations give Samaria and Judea as West Bank and give a novel name Palestine. This is unwise and also not fair. The Ministry of Israel takes into consideration ideals of both Arabs and Jews. Israel is a very small country but is strategically of important and progressively unwelcoming region of Earth. It is un-doubtful that the close ties which United States share with Israel is not at on the surface occasionally. Such apprehension may emerge much more frequently as Middle Earth goes from a period of political change and volatility. The United States sustainability for Israel says that there are reasons of morality and values (Doyle, 2013). The Jewish state gives momentous advantages to United States and in national interests. The other parts of relationship are also ignored. Over years, American leaders have largely explained the basis of United States and Israel relationship by suitably citing shared values of these two countries, mutual experience, frequent democracy, and freedom fighting Judeo-Christian civilization and culture. The pledge that nations hold either they are small or large, they reside insecurity while making evident the aim of people (Doyle, 2013). United States devoted an enduring presence twenty years later in Israel. The Defense News, in September 21, 2011 said that United States organized a high-powered, mobile X-band radar organization to Israel all along the tiny dependent of support people. In a trial to reassure those who may be alarmed by such news, rest confirmed that United States military presence in Israel has been aimed for some reason. Since 2007, the United States Army implored contractual prospects for the Israel Nevatim Air Base. Prospect number was also released in 2007. It was specially designed for manufacture of dangerous material storage space in buildings; shed appropriate buildings, and a utility building, storage facilities and part washing, boom conduct, workshop building and a laboratory, parking, landscaping, site development as in roads (Patton, 2012). Despite the formulations which leaders of United States have regarding these two countries, United States shares political and cultural values with France and Britain. The robust bond that United State shares with Israel is based on the premise that it bears the responsibility of small nation state of Jews who live there. The two shared concepts of moral responsibility and shared values are the pillars on which the foundation of United States bilateral relationships with Israel is based with long willingness from American people. These bilateral ties are described by bipartisan, wide consensus of political leaders of United States as “unbreakable” (Doyle, 2013) While crucially and exactly important, this core foundation of United States and Israel relationship is not complete because it does not comply with collaborative action and common national grounds to forward these interests. Moral responsibility and shared values are an unbreakable basis of these ties but relationship equates on underappreciated third thing. Within United States foreign defense policy, and the business communication some analysts and leaders have conventionally seen the relationship of United States and Israel as a one way pathway in which United States seems to safeguard Israel diplomatically and gives a reason for Israel to protect itself both on a military basis and political reasons. Israel on the other hand provides little or no contribution to the national interests of America (Doyle, 2013). Israel is the only nation with practicing democracy in Middle East. This is the reason Israel is able to protect itself. The state of Jerusalem is a buffer which keeps hard core Islam check in the region. But if Israel is needed to go back to forty four years, this buffer state will be no more. Today Hamas and Fatah are united and the aim for a tranquil Palestine is no more prevalent. The political talks still go on as if nothing has gone wrong. United Nations believe that giving emancipation to State of Israel will be devastation for State of Israel and Jews and instability in Israel means instability in the world (Doyle, 2013). Both United States and Israel have the same national interests that are far beyond than other countries of Middle East. State of Israel is of immense importance to United States. Both countries’ interests include avoiding propagation of mass destruction weapons, fighting radical Islamic ideology and also terrorism linked it, and enduring a development in the region of economic, democratic, and political nature. To make sure that oil and gas are sold at fair and just prices, and combating Iranian presence and their affect in Israel and other countries is also an interest. It is an aim of both United States and Israel to resolve the Arab-Israel fight through negotiation process and safeguarding the Israeli security (Blackwill & Slocombe, 2011) Both United States and Israel believe in prevention of nuclear propagation mostly by Iran or other terrorist groups to reduce and then eliminate radicalism, terrorism, and what Israelis call as ‘global jihad’. They also share the common interest to endorse long-term development and stability of free democracies in Middle East and to keep up peaceful borders with all its neighbors and a peace treaty with the people of Palestine relied on two-state resolution. There is no other Middle Eastern country whose national interest’s definition is so closely related to that of United States (Blackwill & Slocombe, 2011) On several strategic issues, Jerusalem and Washington do differ in their ideas. The agreements with close allies with France and Britain in the 1956 Suez Crisis also shaped some of the national interests for United States. There is difference in challenges these two countries face, and accept various elements of risks in complying with these threats, and diverge on the ways to forward their national interests. Over the past decades, both parties have had policies which were bitter and Israel took preventive measures against nuclear reactor of Iraq to the sale of weaponry by Israeli military innovation to China (Blackwill & Slocombe, 2011). The Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of United States have begun to perceive Israel as a burden than as an asset to United States. The strategic value Israel hold in the past o United States has diminished since Cold War came and the significance of Israel has been reduced and has been made part of several debates and conflicts during the past few years. The moral commitment which America holds are not justified by the actions of Israeli government and this is making Israel a liability than an asset of United States. People are raising questions as to why United States is giving support to Israel when the government of Israel is not complying with its neighbors or pursuing peace in its neighborhood (Duss , 2010). It is high time that Israel should realize that it bears some responsibilities to the Government of United States and should be cautious about the ways United States have prescribed for it. It should not be reticent on issues which are primarily important to both America and Israel. Israeli Government, in simple words, should do what it pledged with United States. It should not exploit the support that American Jews give to Israeli Jews. This does not mean that United States should take a simple action to cut the security of Israel (Duss , 2010) Israel should precast enough judgment to the fact that it is just a tertiary in the strategic interest laid down by United States in a demanding and intricate world. The Government of Israel should act on comprehending the long-run nature of Israel-United States relationship which depends on Israel mostly as it seeks peace with Palestine- a peace which is only in interest of Israel (Duss , 2010).
