The aim of this essay is to research the technological development and effects on the society and individuals. This marketing essay discusses whether emerging technologies have beneficial effects on consumer experiences. According to Achrol, Kotler (2012) he said that consumer experience is the new notion of digital in terms of information, knowledge commodities and service. Both satisfaction value and usefulness are the essential notions in consumption that are the primary procedure within commerce. Demand and its fulfilment is the core of consumption. From the perception of customers, they require satisfaction by a series of complicated experiences of their senses.   When a customer gets appealed by more than one sense, it is termed as a multi-sensory experience. According to Rieunier (2002), the sensory marketing approach tries to outdo the deficiencies found in the "traditional marketing" which is too rational. Sensory marketing enhance the experiences lived by the consumers and their feelings in the process, in which the experiences have emotional, behavioral, sensorial, cognitive, and relational dimensions, not forgetting functional. It aims to create the adequacy of the products with their design and their packaging, and then to valorize them in a commercial environment to make them attractive and in turn, make consumers respond and behave according to emotions and impulsions, more than their reasoning. The key use for sensory branding is that, it helps appeal to the consumers senses, or helps to understand the emotions and experiences of the consumer when they are drawn to, purchasing or at the times of using the product to penetrate and dominate market share, increase profits and to ensure initial and repeat purchases. Sensory branding creates an atmosphere that encourages customers to pay money and is influenced by senses of sight, noise, touch, taste and smell. Sensory marketing is explained as a means of explaining or measuring a customer’s emotions, spotting and their way of capitalizing on new market opportunities, which will help them maximize profitability of products, ensure first and repeat of purchases that is loyalty and maintain long-lasting product success. Emerging technology is defined as a field where new, important technologies come up, with new developments. They are brought up as a result of different separate systems that develop towards a common goal (Lipson & Kurman 2012). This essay will discuss whether emerging technologies can enhance customer experience and sensory systems. Examples of technologies may be educational, informational, cognitive science, artificial intelligence deals with machines and software that mimic human intelligence and nanotechnology occurs when matter is changed from its atomic, molecular or supra molecular scale to make them wide or fine, purification plants, 3D printers, On-line Electric Vehicles (OLEV), Apple, (VIRTUAL PRODUCTION & ZAEH 2013).  I will research two case studies, that is, 3-D printers and the purification plants that help to convert the waste water for energy production or reuse. This is done by first taking in one receiver and converting to other forms in purification or desalination to explain my ideas, because3-D printers and the purification plant may lead customers to have a significantly different customer experience and sensory systems. The reason why those two points will be important is that those leading brand launches many new devices. In terms of consumer use or experience and sensory systems, 3D printers also called additive manufacturing, is a process where a three-dimensional object is built up by applying repeated layers of material in three dimensions. It turns digital data into real objects via instructions from an electronic sketch and draft. Customers are able to see the physical objects. 3D printer customers can use sensory marketing to realize more products because they can touch and see the real goods rather than seeing a design or picture on the computer. With regards sensory perception, the 3D printer provides the sense of feel and touch for customers (Stone & Sidel 2004). Major examples where it works in a disabled child who has a rare non-progressive condition which cause legs to fold up by the ears and shoulders get turned inwards. With the help of a 3D printer, lightweight plastic vest are constructed. As the vest is fitted, it allows the disabled use his or her arms and refer to the system as their ‘magic arms’. This is the first step towards getting a new type of cover for a prosthetic leg, and hope that consumers will finally stop hiding the fact that one is an amputee. By scanning an amputees’ surviving limb, San Francisco-based Company, Bespoke Innovations can make a matching prosthetic copy, thus re-creating the body’s natural symmetry and giving amputees a prosthetic that is fabricated specifically for them. Experts believe that it will at long last be replaced with the printing of organic tissue to remake biological limbs. Therefore, customers can experience the sense of touch and feel when they wear the greater quality artificial teeth or prosthetics from this emerging technology. Customers can therefore see and touch the real products and then make decide whether this product is what they really want. If customers are satisfied with those sample modules, then the company could produce a large number of products. Therefore, products of cost could certainly be reduced. This explains that, a 3D printer provides a practical way for customers to confirm the quality of products. In this way, the customer experience is improved. An example of Sensory Toys, the 3D printing toys is becoming more popular, because a company like Disney is already building 3D printed toys that are used by most children. Another advantage is the use of 3D printers in the medical environment, when describing a patient as a customer for a hospital. If the hospital can provide high quality operations and enhance accurate operative in reproducing the shape of bone fractures, vessels, cardiac infarctions, ruptured organs and bite mark wounds. The shapes of 3D printers seem to be more effortlessly comprehended by lay persons rather than 2D reconstructions. Ebert & Ross (2011) claimed that the 3D printers are ideal for medical purposes. It is assumed that patients may receive better treatment because of these advances of medical technology. Also, 3D printers can deal with some difficulties of treatment procedures. As competition in the retail industry continues to increase, retailers are diving into savvy consumers’ five senses to increase purchasing decisions, and this gives me a leeway to look into the purification plants, where the waste water is usually taken in one receiver and converted to other forms in purification or desalination. This works best in homes to provide tactile senses and the best customer satisfactions, because in as much as people are designing the structures, they wait for pieces of advice on how to go about the construction, this enhance the sense of hearing , because others still coma to get pieces of advice on what is required , in terms of resources. Sense of taste is also applicable because in as much as a given community is putting up the purification plant, they are recycling the water they first used and termed it as waste, either to drink, wash cloths or utensils, this still, gives them a sense of touch. The companies have designed a program me where they are educating the public on the importance of recycled water so as to create awareness, and how it is used to save money instead of purchasing water from other areas, the already wasted one is recycled then re-used for other domestic purposes or converted to produce energy used for lighting. The sense of touch is enhanced since the companies respond promptly when the public raises an alarm and in turn work together to enact a treatment plan. This conversion helps to reduce energy consumption by almost 50%. Individuals cannot practically use a 3D printer in their daily life because the cost is still high. Once the price of 3D printers is affordable for home use, 3D printers be can used by more people. Major challenges in the field of technology and scientific development should not be left out like, in recycling, un corporation from the communities is at times seen, people think the construction is tiresome, at other times, people are much willing to participate but the scarcity of resources hinders them because of reduced support from the states and this bars development, that finally cuts down enactment of new technologies. As for 3-D printers, it may pose some potential harm to the society, because most criminals may easily use 3D printers to make weapons by themselves. An example, a case of the company American Cody Wilson, launched a way to create guns by 3D printer. The 3-D printer can produce a 28-inch calibre gun. Also, with the increasing technology, people are able to download a way of producing bullets via 3D printer with no charge.
