TASK2- TIME MANAGEMENT "Time is really the only capital any human being has, and the one thing he can't afford to waste." –Thomas Edison Time management is one of the most important aspects of individual’s success. It is an art of organizing and prioritizing smaller tasks to achieve specific goals. Time management skill allows people to work effectively in all walks of life. Time management is not important only at workplace but is equally vital in administration of personal activities. Personal time management is essential to lead a healthy and disciplined life. It allows us to identify and decipher personal time management problems. Students, who effectively manage their time, tend to have more control over their lives, emotions, and energy levels and are able to better handle stressful situations. They have balanced lives with continual improvement at work. They have more flexible schedule and therefore, more time to discover new opportunities. One of the most important phases of time management is to plan ahead of time. It is vital to organize the work and plan the activities to achieve the goal well before the deadline. The planning and time management skills can be summarized by the acronym of POSEC which stands for Prioritize by Organizing, Streamlining, Economizing and Contributing. Prioritize the time and define the task by specific goals. Prioritization is a skill one needs to maintain composure and create space in life in order to give importance to things that really matter. It allows one to think clearly and plan their tasks according to their importance. It is particularly important in situations when there is limited time but unlimited tasks. In such situations, prioritization helps allocate time wisely on significant tasks to avoid stress and lead to successful solutions. Organizing one’s task is really an important tool of time management as it saves a lot of time. It minimizes the search and helps you locate files and documents within seconds. It reduces the wastage of time and helps one accomplish smaller tasks to be successful in the long run. Streamlining is the process of shaping the tasks in a way that they do not hinder the achievement of one’s overall objective. These are smaller tasks that one may not want to do but they must be done for successful time management and achieving goals. Economizing is also an important aspect of prioritization where one must do things according to their importance. It is important that one must also economize on things that they want to do but are not very important and therefore, should be done later. Keeping time management in mind, contributions should be made to smaller things that have a bigger impact. One’s contributions should make a difference, therefore, it is important to focus and analyze things that really matter. Apart from these, some other important aspects that students must keep in mind while meeting deadlines is goal setting and handling time management problems such as interruptions, disorganized colleagues, distractions, unpunctuality and lengthy conversations. Goal setting is a powerful tool that gives direction to one’s thoughts and motivates people to achieve their ideal goals. On the other hand, time management challenges need to be handled tactfully while working and must not allowed becoming a hindrance in achieving goals. TASK 3- BODY LANUAGE “WHAT OUR CLOTHING SAYS ABOUT US?” Communication is an important aspect in our lives and often, we tend to express ourselves more than just words. According to a research, humans tend to communicate mostly through non-verbal communication. Body Language is a means of non-verbal communication which consists of facial expressions, gestures, eye contact or the clothing style. The ability to comprehend and use body language is a powerful communication tool that allows people to bond with each other and build long term relationships. The appearance of an individual plays an important role in non-verbal communication. Although the core purpose of clothing is to shelter ourselves from the environment but clothing of an individual also gives the first impression to people. It is extremely helpful in understanding an open minded attitude demonstrating confidence and a closed behavior reflecting nervousness. It is of primary importance that people wear what reflects their personality appropriately because quite often, they are being judged on what they are wearing and how they are wearing it. A person’s beliefs are very clearly indicated by what you wear, for example, women wearing a scarf over her head or a ‘burqa’ can easily be seen as women with Islamic beliefs. Similarly, Jewish men may be identified as those wearing yarmulkes and Christians wear a cross around their necks to indicate to others that they follow a certain lifestyle and participate in particular traditions. Moreover, not only beliefs but also nationalities of different people can be presented through the clothing style as each culture has a particular style of dress that is worn should be worn. For instance, Pakistanis wear shalwar kamez; Japanese wear kimonos; Indians wear saris; and Afghanis and Sikhs wear turbans. In the armed forces as well, clothing is used to categorize soldiers that are in different position through their uniforms and the number of medals they wear. Clothing also communicates the emotions and moods of an individual. In this aspect, the choice of color and clothing plays an important role as different colors tend to appeal to different moods. The age and nature of an individual has an impact on the choice of color. For instance, hyper, fun-loving teenager going out with her friends would preferably wear bright colors and adorn herself with a lot of accessories whereas, a middle-aged women going out for dinner with her husband might prefer wearing subtle colors with a more elegant look and minimal accessories. Appearance can also modify one’s physiological reactions, judgment and interpretations. As clothing is a means of displaying your emotions, it is also a non verbal outlet to attract others. Clothing is a means of expressing yourself, where others can instantly feel creativity, power, sex appeal and understand the personality of the individual just by seeing what they are wearing. Often, men and women embellish themselves with branded clothing and accessories as a means of self-expression to attract their partners. Fashion industry is flourishing throughout the world because of the fact that people have understood the importance of clothing and how it communicates about their personality to others. It is a subject of great importance and therefore, it can also be said that clothing reflects a society’s state of economy. WORKS CITED Hopkins, Lee.
