Therefore, it is evident that the industry of marketing is always changing. Retail marketing has emerged as the need of the hour. The recent trends of the industry of marketing suggest that greater opportunities lie into the segment of business to customers as in that case the layer of middlemen could be avoided and the companies can directly reach the end – customers. Consequently, retail marketing has been one of the most booming aspects of the marketing industry. The recent happenings of retail marketing in the hospitability sector suggest a very interesting trend. It is being increasingly noticed that many of the designer companies are getting into the hospitality sector and coming up with hotels in commercial hubs like Dubai and London. The changes in terms of the business have led to increasing strategic planning for the purpose of effective assessment and monitoring of the business (Phillips & Moutinho, 1999).

Among the many of the major trends of the present time, it has been observed that the affluent society is becoming more sensitive about choosing the products that they purchase. This is primarily because today’s customer is oversubscribed with products and information. He can easily gain insight about the products that he is interested with. Also, so many companies are catering to the same industry. All these have led to the trend that the customers look for unique experience for the money that he spends (Escalera, 2007).

With such trends prevailing in the industry, it is quite natural that the designer's companies like Missoni and Armani would indulge in the hospitality sector to create optimum value for the affluent society.

The Varese based Italian fashion major Missoni was founded by Ottavio Missoni in the year of 1953.
