Increasing Of Indonesia Population And Its Impact On The BusinessTotal Population The Republic of Indonesia has an approximate population of at 252,812,245 persons. Out of this, 53% of the population stays in urban centers. Therefore, the total population in towns adds up to about 133,860,626. Indonesian total population accounts for 3.49% of the total world population and makes Indonesia number four in the world rankings (Worldometers 1). The population density is approximately 133 individuals per Km2.

Thus, Indonesian significant population makes it a perfect target market for a snack bar promotion and sales. Population growth rateThe countrywide demographic growth rate was 1.49 % between 2000 and 2010. However, family-planning programs have contributed to a decline in to approximately 1.04% as per now. Given the current trend, United Nations (UN) projects Indonesian population to surpass 270 million by 2025, go past 285 million people by the year 2035 and increase beyond 290 million by the year 2045 (Indonesia Population 2013).

After which, the country shall experience a decline from 2050. Perhaps, two-thirds of Indonesia’s populace shall reside in town areas according to United Nations estimations. From a business perspective, this trend provides an opportunity for commercial success and snack shall maximize the provisions of the population. Population distribution The demographic distribution of Indonesia makes it an excellent market for promotion of the snack bar. The nations’s entire population comprises of mainly the youths providing an economic advantage.

The median age for the population is 28.1 years. Young population offers a potentially significant target market and very accessible. Females dominate the society, and when categorized into sexes, the male median age is 27.7 years while female age is around 28.7 years (Worldometers 1). Geographic areas of Indonesia (urban/suburban density and concentration)Indonesia consists of 13,667 islands, but citizens inhabit only 6,000. Gorengan refers to a friend bite. Indonesian market has a variety of Gorengan, courtesy of the numerous street-side chef with different flavors and unique recipes. Pisang goreng or fried banana is the most competitive product and retail at 500rp per piece. Similarly, Barkso that is a meatball soup is common among the citizens’ sells at 5000 to 15,000, dependent on the contents of a bowl (Roberts 1).Indirect competitionGarudafood products of sweet and savory products are an indirect competitor worth considerations.

Products such as Kacang Garuda brand Okky Jelly are famous and serve almost similar purposes as other snacks. Their large market share, aggressive promotional approaches such as prime-time television advertisements further stamps their presences.
