The finest one-stop shop for ambulance vehicle 1. Personal Profile The proponent’s name is Saad Alqahtani, lives in Saudi Arabia and was born in 1975. Working with the United Nations for 15 years, Alqahtani has already considerable background in helping different people and countries in times of calamities such as earthquake, volcanic eruption, fire, flood, and hurricane. His specific job is to prepare medical supplies for first aid to be brought by ambulances. Working in situations like this requires tough endurance and a high sense of teamwork. That is why the proponent loves to work in a team and finds great accomplishment when he has considerably done his part for the success of the group. However, being exposed to providing aid, Alqahtani believes that there are other greater things he could substantially provide for the welfare of the people. The proponent plans to open a company with a business of providing medical equipments for ambulances. In addition, the proponent would also integrate creating customized designs for ambulance equipments. 2. Business Profile The said business will substantially include distribution of medical equipments for ambulance and even other custom-made gears that will fit to the need of the said vehicle. For example, the proponent will provide medical supplies such as oxygen, first aid kit, other life-saving devices, beddings, hydraulics, and other relevant medical equipments for emergency purposes. In cases when the clients would want customized medical equipments such as beddings, the business would substantially design them as the need arises. Other related designs inside and out of the ambulance vehicle will also be covered within the business for as long as it is related with providing medical equipments. For instance, cabinets, and handles for medical apparatus will be provided as well. In other words, the said business is a one-stop shop for ambulance because it would try to cater in as much as possible all the essential needs of the said vehicles for emergency purposes and other related concerns. A detail of this plan can be pictured out through Appendix 3. 3. Business Name and Logo The business name is taken from the name of the proponent; it is “SAAD Company”, while the company’s logo is obtained from the site of Arthursclipart.org (2009). The logo is a picture of a red cross, indicating that the company is provider of life-saving equipments for emergency purposes. In other words, the logo remarkably emphasizes that the business would work hand in hand with medical-related businesses. In this case, it would provide substantial equipments and other related needs of ambulance vehicles including but not limited to designing customized medical gears. 4. Location The proponent would want to locate the business at the center of South Australia, Adelaide. This is the capital of South Australia. In June 2011, there were 1.21 million people in its population, an integral component of the overall 1.66 million people in South Australia in the same year (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2012). Adelaide is situated at the heart of South Australia where business and trade are freely conducted (Mappery.com, 2012). This is further illustrated in Appendix 1. In other words, Adelaide would be a remarkable place for business venture because the entire population of South Australia is saturated in the city. Furthermore, as the center in South Australia, Adelaide connects all major roads which would mean it has access to every direction in the city. For emergency purposes, Adelaide is a suitable location for the business venture of the proposed SAAD Company. In fact, there were at least ten reputable hospitals and medical institutions situated somewhere in Adelaide (Maps.Google.com, 2012). As shown in Appendix 2, and based on the map presented, three of these medical institutions are nearly located at the center of Adelaide. These are remarkably reputable medical institutions in South Australia. This means that considering the location of the proposed business, substantial and promising outcome would be remarkable for the proposed company. 5. SWOT Analysis Strength The proposed business is something new as it would try to create specific competitive advantage. This can be remarkably initiated through differentiating both products and services. As stated earlier, the proponent will try to come up anything just to make it to the point that SAAD Company will become the finest one-stop shop for all the needs within an ambulance vehicle. This is a remarkable strength because this is something new in the market. Furthermore, additional strength would be the proposed idea on how to initiate the entire business. This in particular will support the actual differentiation strategy for both product and service offerings. Weakness The proposed business at present time may be lacking of actual feasibility study. This in particular would help the proponent determine the actual financial and marketing capability of the entire business to stay in its operation in the long run. Furthermore, there is no available forecasting data at present that could empirically support decision-making. In other words, the proposed business at some point may be lacking of additional information or details that could make the entire operation a success due to highly reliable and confident decision-making process. Opportunity The proposed location is an opportunity because Adelaide connects major roads in the city and in South Australia in general. Furthermore, the presence of major medical facilities would ensure a remarkable market share for SAAD Company in the future. Threats Economic stability would be a threat in this kind of business as major hospitals and even those institutions directly linked with ambulance vehicles would cut cost to ensure profitability and continuation of their operations. Furthermore, the threat of new entrants cannot be overlooked as those businesses related with medical concerns are steady growing in number and substantial quantity of them stays in business for already long-stable years. In other words, it would be challenging to penetrate in this kind of business knowing the fact that there are already competitors which have already rooted their competitive advantage which also serves as primary barrier to entry. 6. Marketing The proponent will make use of the media in the promotion activity. Social-networking site would be a good start, inviting friends and asking them to refer the said business to others. In short, words of mouth will be established. Furthermore, the proponent will establish direct relationship with hospitals and other medical, health service care providers which are employing ambulance vehicles for their offered services. In the first quarter of the year just within the start of the operation of the proposed business, the proponent will promote discounts and other relevant offers just to catch the attention of target customers especially those medical institutions looking for high value for their money. 7. Sustainability Sustainability is the key issue in every business today. The proponent would like to keep the proposed business GREEN by adhering to the recommended policies and procedures emancipated by the government in Adelaide for concerns pertaining to environmental sustainability. Any materials or probable things of value for the company that would be harmful to the environment should not be considered. Rather, the proponent will always look forward to possible alternatives by enhancing and maximizing the potential of research and development programs. For example, the use of harmful chemicals substantially creates detrimental impacts on the environment. This could be prevented by keeping the customer informed on how to properly dispose or use medical equipments and other related apparatus. Thus, the proponent will ensure effective product orientation to every potential customer regarding the right usage of actual product offerings. Proper disposal of garbage and waste materials could create potential impact on the environment. Improper management in this aspect will eventually result to potential hazards in the environment. Thus, it would be part of the proposed business’s core values to ensure all working personnel are oriented on issues pertaining to environmental sustainability. 8. Government List of Resources and Information For starting a business for the proposed company into Adelaide, South Australia, it would be important to look forward to connect with Australian Government Initiative by looking through Australian Government’s principal business resource (Business.gov.au, 2012). The Business.gov.au in particular is dealing with the following concerns: registration and licenses, grants and assistance, employing people, taxation, home-based business, importing and exporting, innovation, fair trading and many others (Business.gov.au, 2012). These all would encompass the essential information to be used for starting the proposed business in Adelaide, South Australia. Environmental sustainability on the other hand is essential in starting a business in Australia. It is therefore important to connect with EPA South Australia to know matters concerning environmental obligations and efficiency of one’s resources (EPA South Australia, 2012). For other relevant information in starting a business especially pertaining to essential information about data and population for other related marketing concerns, Australian Bureau of Statistics could be of great help to know about national statistics, regional statistics, key products and international statistics (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2012). For the registration of business name in Adelaide, Australia, the first step would be to select a name for business, check its availability and then registration online for more convenience is available at Office of Consumer and Business Affairs in Adelaide (Government of South Australia, 2012).
