The enthusiasm of buying goods made in China, on much cheaper prices is fast getting over, as people in America and other parts of the world realize the dangers involved in using such products. The media has been publishing reports about recalls of such goods regularly. Accordingly, the issues related to the safety and dangers involved in using them are summarized, briefly, below: Presence of lead in Chinese toys Most of the Chinese products have an excessive amount of lead metal, which poses danger to the person handling such goods, particularly the children.

This is evident from the reported recall of Stuffed Fun balls, during June 2006 to March 2007, from a dollar and other discount stores; as these baby toys contained a dangerous level of lead in the paint used by the Chinese maker. Similarly many ‘children’s turquoise rings’ were recalled by the Central Distributing Company of Maryland, during May 2007, as the same contained dangerous levels of lead. (Jefferson, 2007) The repercussions of using such goods would mean life-threatening diseases and fatal infections for the human body.

Contaminated food products Media reports inform that the person responsible for allowing the export of such food product was arrested and executed by the Chinese government. The Chinese company exporting contaminated wheat gluten for human and animal consumption has been banned by the US government. Fortunately no large scale human tragedy was reported, due to such contamination. (Vujsa, 2007) The repercussions of consuming contaminated wheat gluten food products include severe illness and death.
