Risk Assessment Audit Introduction The audit of the GE Oil & Gas Inc has shown possible contingencies that negatively implicate on the GE Oil & Gas Inc’s branch that is located in West Africa (Inkpen, et al, 2011). The audit has been entirely successful in assessing all the relevant matters as pertaining to the West African branch of GE Oil & Gas. This audit has proven and discovered that there are possible hazards, incidents, accidents that need to be explained and solutions to be recommended where there is need for the solutions and associated actions. The audit on GE Oil & Gas Inc has shown that there is room for recommendations that can be implemented. This is especially on the employees who have major and significant problems in their places of work within the GE Oil & Gas Inc company. GE Oil & Gas Inc has gone on a considerable expansion program in West Africa and this has made it to encounter a lot of problem in relation to management and employee related issues. Audit report Petroleum and oil drilling and development together with it consumption has always been linked with widespread impact on the environment. Environmental impact occurs at all levels of oil and gas sequence but is apparent during upstream level of operations. The upstream level involves oil and gas exploration and production with impact such as accidental spills or atmospheric emissions. The environmental impact has conventionally not the focus on many players, and the oil and gas industry was not under immense environmental regulation for substance period during it operations. It is apparent that environmental regulation focusing on the oil and gas industry is a latest phenomenon only few years old. Housing accommodation The housing for the GE Oil & Gas Inc is structured to meet all the employer and employees requirements in the various differentiated departments. This housing accommodation is for the employees of the GE Oil & Gas Inc and also the employers who manage the activities in the region that the GE Oil & Gas Inc is located in West Africa. The housing accommodation is not sufficient for the entire large stuff that is increasing with the expansion of the exploration processes and activities of the GE Oil & Gas Inc company. This makes the different aspects of the housing accommodation to be a matter of concern that should be addressed within time since it is crucial to ensure than the GE Oil & Gas Inc’s workers have shelter in order to perform better in their respective job sections. The jobs that have been well served with housing accommodation adequately include those of the top management criterion. This includes the managing director and the board of directors that maintain and supervise on the other junior employees. This is not that it is unfair; it is just that the West Africa branch of GE Oil & Gas Inc is still starting and has not fully become functional. Other housing accommodations are being constructed and within no time the issue will be solved. The buildings to house the equipments and the relevant tools operated by the company have all been completed since they come first in the priority list. Recommendations The housing accommodation should be provided for all the employees that have it in their respective detail in their contractual terms with the GE Oil & Gas Inc company. The housing accommodation is however up to the level required and the houses have been constructed according to recommended architectural designs. The condition of the trucks The condition of the trucks is not appealing. This is in terms of the type and the age of the trucks used in carrying the products of GE Oil & Gas Inc Company. The trucks that are used in West Africa are very much worn out as is the norm in most African construction companies that are small scale. The GE Oil & Gas Inc Company has picked up some of this habits and it’s not pretty for the colossal company that has some considerable control on the oil and gas market in the global economy. The company is very much in shape when it comes to the small vehicles that carry and run errands and also are used by company officials. However, the trucks pose an immense danger to both the drivers and the local community especially when they are worn out and in deplorable shapes. The trucks that are road unworthy and in a bad state to transport oil or gas pose a great danger to the surrounding inhabitants in West Africa. This is because accidents and other related mishaps can happen and lead to many deaths. This is because gas or oil is volatile and can make the accident turn into an explosion in a minute of seconds. This means that the reserved insurance scope will have to be applied at the expense of lives lost. This is hazardous and highly unsafe. Recommendations The insurance company will cover the damages but for the lives lost especially of the employees of the GE Oil & Gas Inc Company will be tragic and lost forever. This means that the few trucks that are well in shape and new should be increased and the road unworthy ones, however cheap to purchase, must be eliminated from the GE Oil & Gas Inc Company’s premises. Workshops’ conditions The workshops’ conditions are very much renovated and creative since the company actually takes much time in the running of these particular workshops. However, the cases of accidents happening in ground or field workshops have increased significantly. The exploration of gas and oil requires that some workshops are performed or held at places that are not near the GE Oil & Gas Inc Company’s premises. This increases the chances of the relevant workshops being weakened since most of the employees will be unwilling to attend the field or ground workshops to learn and be shown how to apply drilling and exploration activities. The other set of workshops that happen within premises of the GE Oil & Gas Inc Company or inside buildings are safe and very much attended by employees and management as well. However, the differentiated aspects that revolve around the other workshops involving fields study and pragmatic gas and oil exploration activities make it very unsafe sometimes. This is because in West Africa there exists some environmental hazards such as cases of wild animals in game reserves and militia in some countries like Northern Nigeria. This makes it hazardous to perform these workshops sometimes. Recommendations The recommended changes that can be made is hiring security and field experts that have used the same lands before to act as guides in these explorations and drilling activities. Additionally, the workshops can be done in places that are near the actual field study and then the actual drillers and explorers to proceed with the GE Oil & Gas Inc Company’s operations. Recommendations for employees’ training The human resource management is composed of the employees that are responsible for the basic welfare of the GE Oil & Gas Inc Company. They are the ones that are the link between the organization and the outside world. That means that they offer services to the customers, stakeholders and other associates of the organization or business entity. The human resource department is the workforce of the GE Oil & Gas Inc Company. It is entirely responsible for the assessment, training, attraction, selection, and rewarding of the employees in the given organization (Adler, 2008).                 The trend that will influence training is the comparison of the outcome business-wise with other companies or organizations in the gas and oil business after a given working period. This will make this trend fall under the assessment criteria of GE Oil & Gas Inc Company’s training and development of the employees. This is crucial as comparison in the assessment criterion will show the shortcomings regarding the work done by the employees and the improvements that have been achieved considerably. Today’s GE Oil & Gas Inc Company’s training is centered on development/HR professionals enhancement can tries to understand the differentiated cultures so as to prepare themselves for the future requirements of training and development in West Africa. This is an important trend that can assist in the influencing training and development. Culture understanding is very necessary in the HR professional sector since helps serve the main purpose of the employee requirements which is provision of professional competence in the services offered to its customers (Jahanshahi, 2011, p. 254). For example, the British way of life has a culture of punctuality that is taken to be a serious matter. Any HR practitioner can assure themselves that their services are efficient and timely by maintaining HR record systems. The systems should be strictly in line with data protection regulations and laws. This is so as to avoid other irregularities that could prevent the provision of the service. This is the case whereby the customer requires the service to be provided. In Africa, however, punctuality is not a serious matter, but discrimination of fellow employees based on color, religious affiliations or tribe is a serious matter.                   On the contrary, culture difference is noted in the US or other slow but developed societies like Canada, for example, the human resource management of the GE Oil & Gas Inc Company will make the employees have to master different fundamental forms of skills in his respective practices. The GE Oil & Gas Inc Company branches in China, for instance, an employee is required to support initiatives that result to change and additional program implementations. This is because as it will enable him/her in the reducing of sophistication and high requirement needed in the provision of services to customers. According to Angelova and Zekiri (2011), this is because the customers have a high rate in regard to customer service performance. The employees will have to ensure that the customer services are timely and respective to customers’’ culture by the determining of key skills, knowledge and the values that make the working environment easier. For example, keeping properly preserved customers’ records in a systematic filing method in order to save on time when it comes to service provision is a form of respect to the British culture.               This shows that the employees being trained to understand culture by the management of the GE Oil & Gas Inc Company will be in a position to meet future requirements in the developmental program they might undergo. Today's training and development/HR professionals need to understand that culture has a long way in the creation of good customer service. Understanding culture orientation in their places of work and the surrounding environment will be an important trend to prepare themselves for the future requirements of training and development (Bohlander, 2009).
