Quality assurance is the implementation of all systematic activities that are geared towards provision of quality products and services. Therefore, all organisations that adhere to quality control are in a position to make a positive impact in the provision of products and services. This is an activity that is directed towards fulfilling the needs of the demand for the services and products. Quality control is mostly inclined towards satisfaction of those in need the services and products. In quality control, an organisation’s interests are not paramount. However, the interests of the consumer reign supreme. Quality Concepts An organisation that needs to apply quality control has to go through various procedures to attain the best. It is not an easy task to implement quality assurance and it will take time and other resources including finance and labour. First, the organisation has to carry out a concrete system analysis. Organisations have to come up with a system that will be operational in the organisation in order to meet the requirements. In this initial step, the organisation has to consult with concerned parties to come up with a functional system. This will involve consultation, meeting with other parties consulting research in making a strong system. This will be followed by development of the system to ensure it will function in the organisation. Analysing and developing a system that is not functional in the organisation will be a waste of time and resources. The second part in applying quality assurance is making the various documentations that will be in line with the system. After the initial development, the organisation should plan to avail all the documentations that are required in ensuring the system is functional. This will include policies that will government the system. Succinctly stated policies will make it easy to control the functionality of the system. As such, there will be limited instances of conflict of interest. Secondly, there has to be procedures that will be followed in implementation of the system. Following procedures will ensure the system will be implemented in a standardised form. Some procedures will be vital and should be done before taking any other step in the system. Thirdly there will be a need for reference materials. The system should be backed up with materials that will be used in future in ensuring the system is followed appropriately. The last part of applying quality assurance is informing the concerned parties of the system in place. Passing information explicitly will be a benefit to the organisation as all the employees or people in the organisation will be prepared to execute the system. This will be followed by instructing the organisation on the possible measures that will be in place when implementing the system. Lastly, there will be a need to train the staff in ensuring the system is fully executed. Since the workforce is directly involved, they will have to get ample training and preparation for the system that should be put in place. When considering the application of quality assurance in an organisation, there are several parameters that are considered. First, there is constant training of the concerned parties and employees. The employees are directly involved in ensuring quality standards are maintained. Therefore, constant training of the employees will ensure the quality of products or services are kept in high standards. In many instances, organisations that practice employee training are at the helm of making positive accrual in their line of service or products. Secondly, there is need for constant measurement of quality. Many organisations have invested their resources in ensuring there is constant measurement of the quality of products and services. This has been used as a method of implementing systems in many organisations across the globe (Beaney, 2006: 21). Measurement of quality depicts a change in the quality of services and products that are produced. Noting an improvement in the quality of products and services is an assurance that the system is working to the advantage of the organisation. However, stagnant improvement in the products and services produced by an organisation depicts haphazard implementation of the system. Application of quality assurance in an organisation revolves around confirmation of stated standards. When implementing quality systems, an organisation has constant reflection on the stated standards. If the products are standardised, it is an assurance that the implemented systems are working for the benefit of the organisation. However, if the products do not conform to the set standards, then the organisation has to change the quality systems (Mehta, 2004: 12). Similarly, application of quality assurance in an organisation revolves around monitoring and evaluation of the processes in the quality assurance. Most of the systems are executed by employees in the organisation. Therefore, the management has to ensure all the employees are in the right track in implementing these systems. With constant monitoring, it is easy to attain the desired results in quality assurance. Process Evaluation of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 regulations have been implemented to ensure high standards are maintained. They are both directed to towards product production of high standards, rather than basing its activities on the end-product and services. There have been a number of processes that have been used in implementing these regulations (Beaney, 2006, 11). First, the regulations are directed towards analysing the objectives and processes that are required in production of products and services. This follows an analysis of all the processes in the organisation and recommendations. This includes all the elements that are used at present and in the future. Reflection of all these activities ensures the materials used in production have no direct or indirect effect to the environment. As such, the organisations have to reiterate their environmental objectives and their targets which are measured. In such a position, the organisation’s control and management procedures are incorporated into the system. The second procedure used by ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 is implementation of the stated processes. At this juncture, the organisation has to reflect on its processes in the organisations and how they are controlled (Ratliff, 2005: 9). In this procedure, there is reflection on the documents, preparedness in case of emergency and the response to various issues. The third process that is used in implementation of these regulations is checking the processes. This includes measuring and monitoring all the processes in the organisation. It also involves reporting the results to the concerned parties. Lastly, the implementation of the regulations involves taking actions that would improve all the processes in the organisations (Beaney, 2006, 10). This ensures all the objectives of the organisations are maintained at high standards. It also includes recommendations and plans for improvement that are noted in the organisation. Other Operational Processes Other quality associated operational processes can be introduced into an organisation to ensure superb service and product delivery. The most practical process is the “just in time” procedure. In this procedure, the organisation ensures there is delivery of services and products at the right time when the customers need the products or services. This process is incepted into organisation to ensure there is no laxity in delivery of products and services to the customers. Similarly, it is mostly used to reduce instances where perishable products go to waste. This process is used effectively in ensuring the organisation is time conscious and aggressive in the market (Beaney, 2006: 18). Such aggression ensures the organisation meets its demand for services and products in the meanest time. Similarly, it is an avenue of reducing inventory costs that are incurred in the organisation. In most of the time, “just in time” process does not need ample storage space. As such, there will be fewer expenses. Though this method is employed for all the positive reasons, at times it does not conform to the positivity of large scale production. The organisation has to produce in bits, which increases costs of production. Similarly, this is a process that is inclined to time more than quality production. The organisation is keen on the time rather than concentrating on the quality of products and services. A firm should ensure it is within the recommended limits of the quality of products. Conclusion In conclusion, quality management is a vital process that needs several aspects for fulfilment. First, there is need to have a roadmap of all the systems that will be implemented. This is followed by the various procedures that will be used in ensuring the organisation is successful. After this, there will be a need to monitor and evaluate the organisation in relation to quality management. Lastly, there will be evaluation on the success and setback. Thereafter, there will be a need to a lot various ways of improving the organisation. Recommendations In today’s world, there is need to have high standard production of products and services. This is not an easy task when there are no regulations in the market. Therefore, there is need for intervention from governing bodies to attain high class products and services. Since most of these services could affect the lives of people, it is a prudent factor to consider its implementation. Implementation of the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 regulations is a positive approach. This would lessen some of the effects on the environment, human life and the climate.
