General characteristic of wireless company

The wireless company is considered the fastest growing industry since 2005. There is also an increase in the cellular phones in the market which have increased the growth in the wireless company. The consumers have increasingly used the cellular phones to meet their needs in communication. The demands for wireless services and products have also increased as it is driven by the demand of the consumers and the innovation services that the industry have offered (Hattersley, 4). The advanced technology has been made available to all the companies to create products and services. The profitability of the companies which are involved in wireless connections depends on the marketing services that they offer and the ability to provide better services to their customers.

The wireless technology is characterized as an emerging technology that have has lots of innovation and makes the industry to be competitive as compared to the other industries. The increased innovation and growth in the organization have increased the development in cellular phones in additional to the advancement in software development. The generations of the cellular phones have continued to evolve mainly in the design and the technology that the phones have. There have been many changes in the wireless industry from the time there was the launch of 3G network. There have been increased connectivity in the industry with improved electronic devices (Hattersley, 4). The wireless industry, however, have remained capital intensive with much of the finances being spent on the research and innovation activities. The invention of Google and the visions that the company has in improving communication have resulted in more growth and innovation in the industry.

Android and comparison with the other operating systems of phones

The Android operation system is built with the basing on Linux Kernel. The Android was initially developed by Android Inc., which was later bought by Google in 2005. From the acquisition, Google have developed Android and have given it free to the manufacturers dealing in hardware and those that want to use it in the development of their devices. Google after the acquisition of Android have formed a group that have had developments in the software and hardware most of which have the aim of making money through the use of Android. The groups have been involved in making money through servicing the sold phones, selling phones or selling mobile applications.

The Android operating systems have a difference with the other operating systems such Apple. Unlike the operation system of others such as Apple, Google have allowed the use of Android free of charge where people are able to develop their phones through downloading and developing any mobile application. The operation system have also worked such those Android apps that are not downloaded for free can be included in the monthly phone bills. The Android operation system also comes with all the Google services on their phones. The applications that come foe free include Google talk, Google maps and default Chrome browser. The applications have allowed and provided an open platform for which there is an opportunity for different developers to create wider mobile experiences and make the experiences reach the hands of the consumers.

Difference between Android and other OS

Android operation system is open while the other operation systems are proprietary. The operating systems that are proprietary include Blackberry OS, Apple iOS, and Windows OS. The open and proprietary operation systems have advantages and also their disadvantages. The open OS such as Android are advantageous since they can be modified by anyone to suit their needs and to improve the experience of the user (Hattersley, 6). The main disadvantage of the open type is that the providers have difficulty in providing support to the operating system. The proprietary licensed operating system also gives their users great experience through the lots of products and services that they offer. The disadvantage with the use of the system is that the products and the services that are offered are selective and can block the others through blocking flash.

Google’s emphasis on android

Google is placing much emphasis on android since it is through the use of Android that it attains its business strategy. The business model of Google is based on the number of people that brows and through the development of Android, there is increased number of people who browse. When people browse the internet, there are advertisement and Google ads that the people experience. The more the people like the ads, the more benefits Google generates. This has been the reason why Google emphasizes more on Android for more ads and more benefits.

Before Google getting into agreement to purchase Android, they did a research and determined that everyone needs a phone. Since Google is an advertisement company, the mobile adds that it builds are able to be seen by the large number that uses that Android phones. Based on the number of people who use android phones, it is hard to be away from the phones and through this, Google finds the base way through which they can provide more ads. From the study, it is evident that Google is not making any money from Android despite the fact that Android have a larger market share as compared to Apple and other operating systems (Hattersley, 7). Android, however, is on the right track and through the operations that it has the plans of Google can be achieved.

Google in its plan aims at increasing the market share of Android such that it can earn more from the mobile industry. The main aim that Google has is not making profits from the operations of android but making Android have the largest market share, and it is through this that Google have given out Android to be used freely by mobile manufactures.

Alignment of the wireless company with Google

There is little alignment between Google and the wireless industry stakeholders. The little alignment is observed and also represented in different supports that the company has received. In an example, the support that was given to Verizon was to be given to the rest of the wireless companies as they thought that Google wanted the company to reduce its operations. The wireless companies have not accepted in running only a network. The companies want to run everything and have all the network connectivity.

The aim of Google is to partner with the developers of applications and wireless operators tie ensure that the mobile users and other consumers get the best experiences from the services they receive. Google also has the aim of making sure that those that the partners make money from their goods and services. The company wants to ensure that the users of the wireless commodities stay focused on the experience that bathes end user gets.

Google and other wireless companies that they have got in partnership with have been considered to be getting more powerful than expected. Other operators such as Vodafone think that it will be better when the companies are regulated. The advice that was given to the other companies is to ensure that their networks are open or to charge the consumers the right amounts that will make them have and attain their consumers without complaining to other companies such as Google.

The adoption of Apple and the threat that it poses to Android

The Android hade the largest market share in the industry but the adoptions that were made by Apple have posed a threat to it. The threat is that Apple have remained the number one device and software maker. One threat that is to be posed to the Android company is due to the carriers’ diversity such that the Apple Company will unlock its devices so that they be ready to work with any other wireless operators. Product divestiture that is adopted by Apple will also pose a threat to Android market. The operation system of Android is used by many devices while Apple has only stacked to the use of iPhones. The idea that Apple diversify the use of its operation system on other devices will pose a threat to the Android market as there will be increased competition.

Firms and approaches that will disrupt the converging industries

The Symbian operating system is a threat to the industries since it has an open source that allows manufactories to develop applications to meet their demands. The operation will be similar to that of Android. Symbian is the operating system that is used by Nokia phones. It is to be considered that Nokia phones currently have the largest market share. The Symbian operating system will increase its operation and this will have some advantages and disadvantages to the wireless industry. The success of the phones in the industry will increase since the manufacturer will increase its production when the operating system would have been popular.

The disadvantage that the Android and the converging companies will have is that Android is used by multiple companies while Symbian will only be provided by Nokia. The control of Android application will be difficult due to the openness and the multiple modification that is has from the users.

The wireless industry includes companies from different sectors from the mobile manufactures, manufactures of chips, network operators and software providers. The people that are involved in the industry offers different services and plans for their customers their customers. The plans that the players in the industry have had for their customers include network coverage and offering of devices that meet the needs of the consumers. The different strategies and the difference in the operation systems that the industries use have reduced the instances through which the industries can come together to develop the wireless industry. The difference in the devices have contributed to this.
