One thing that should not be forgotten is that there can never be prestige without quality. Given the hard economic times, it is also clear that BMW has been able to maintain flexibility in a number of ways including the volume of products that they produce.

BMW has also created a given type expectation in their customers. This kind of expectation has always meant that the company has to do all that they can in making sure that the products that they produce and the manner in which they are distributed as per the expectation of their customers. This is not an easy thing as the company has many competitors which is an indication that id anything goes wrong in any of the sectors of their operations they might not prove to be dependable as they aim at proving to be, something that will disadvantage them competitively.

Recommendation

It should be noted that the competition in the luxury car market has highly increased of over the recent years. This is a clear indication that prices will soon be an issue of contention in this industry. The fact that the company has made savings by using technology without compromise the quality and class of the products that are produced by the company should be an indication that the company can use that advantage to lower their prices a little bit for the sake of competitiveness. However, the prices should not be so low that the wrong message can be communicated on the quality of the products. Like Mercedes, BMW should work on the dependability of their products. This is something that they can be able to achieve by making sure that the technologies that they use to come up with products that have durable dependability. Despite the fact that products produced at BMW are more than just luxury cars, they should consider making sure that they beat their competitors on the part of dependability, something that Mercedes has beaten them in. Products that are produced by Mercedes remain to be highly dependable even after being used for many years. This is a trait that BMW should consider introducing in the cars that they produce.
