Organizations require continual development of the staff for improvement of skills in leadership and management. This ensures that the goals and objectives of the organization are achieved. The manager has to devise the development needs of the employees and then come up with a development plan for the employees. This has to be achievable. Besides, the manager has to ensure that resources are provided to facilitate the development and the plan has to be reviewed. This paper shall discuss the various aspects of self-development with respect to the organization’s objectives.Task 11.1 Importance of continual self-development in achieving organizational objectivesContinual self-development involves taking responsibility for one’s learning and finding means to achieve the learning.

It involves increasing the capacity that one has and one willing to take control and responsibility of events (Pedler et al, 2007). The process involves the development of certain qualities and skills that workers have, improving their performance on their job and advancing their potential. If the process of self-development is set based on the organization’s objectives, the individuals will work better towards the achievement of the objectives. This is because of their improved job performance and their improved skills.1.2 Assessment of current skills and competencies against defined role requirements and organizational objectivesExisting skills and competencies can be assessed by comparing what has been achieved thus far with respect to the objectives of the organization.

Each skill and competency is related to the objective and the contribution that has been made by the skill or competency is tallied out. In cases where the competency falls short, a need for development will arise and this shall be passed over to the workers. For the need to have a centralized warehouse, the objectives of optimizing operational costs, enhancing operational efficiency and streamlining operations shall require that the skills relate to these requirements (Højgaard, 2009).1.3 Development opportunities to meet current and future defined needs
