With the global competitive environment, Union National Bank has to be keen on its performance. They should also ensure that they gain competitive advantage on their services as compared to other service organization offering the same product or service. Innovation at Union National Bank should actually be driven by Total Quality Framework and also determines the success of change and development of its Union National Bank (Charantimath, 2003). Union National Bank should also realize strategies lay through Total Quality Management is applicable and important to their service organization, being a service organization offering banking services. If Union National Bank focuses fully on Total Quality management factors directly positively affect performance. Consequences that are made through Total Quality management practices are positive to the organization’s performance (Hakes, 2001). Finally, Total Quality factors such as management of people, processes, leadership and customer at Union National Bank will focus greatly affect their performance. The relationship between practices of Total Quality management and performance of an organization enhance the structure of an organization and contextual (Oakland, 2003). Union National Bank’s should moved ahead to identifying on those elements which when added together will lead to a competitive advantage over the rest of the competing organizations in the market (Mukherjee, 2006). It is through this reason that banking organizations opted for Total Quality Management for the facilitation of change, reducing production costs, enhancing teamwork, thus improvement of service quality. Total Quality Framework is quite beneficial if well implemented in the banking sector. The main advantage with Total Quality Frameworks is that it is compatible with bureaucratic style of leadership that exists in most of the business enterprises within the United Arab Emirates as witnessed by United National bank. The Total Quality Frameworks on the other hand ensures that banking sector approach is facilitated (Besretfield, 2006). It is popularly understood that Total Quality Frameworks did not come into operation at the banking services just the other day but long ago when money saving was first introduced. To achieve success in an organization, teamwork should be enhance rather that isolation of functions, not accepting any sort errors whatsoever, having a proactive attitude rather than a reactive attitude, identifying the direction of leadership that an organization is actually heading to and finally, appreciating competitive positioning (Naidu & Rajendra, 2006). Organization’s productivity has been a major concern and customer satisfaction. Organizations have therefore moved forward to identify on those elements which when added together will lead to a competitive advantage over the rest of the competing organizations in the market. Focusing on Total Quality Frameworks is a universal philosophy that applies to any kind of organization. Organizations may be categorized right from manufacturing, service, among other but quality is a common phenomenon in all of them. It is up to Total Quality Frameworks to come up with useful ideas and concepts that will push forward organization’s objectives. In order for Union National Bank to ensure success is attained in the banking services to its customers the y should further undertake researches and scrutinize the features which will contribute admirable outcome thus, Union National Bank will be happy to celebrate their success afterwards. Being leading domestic bank in the United Arab Emirates and it is therefore considered a service organization (Peratec Ltd, 2004). Certainly, in order for Union National Bank to gain success in its service operations they should adopted the strategies of Total Quality Management which are key ways to success. Their success has been achieved because of the following reasons: Quality Leadership The employees of an organization are also key factors to success. Though many have claimed that finances bring about success in a company, they are other corner stones that work hand in hand with resources in order to attain success. A good agent of a company is a leader. It is through this reason that we realize that leadership is fundamental to every organization Union National Bank opted to this strategy (Ross & Perry, 1999). This means that, the top level management is fully committed towards their duties and responsibilities to ensure that the bank achieve it objectives. They are oriented with the long term performance of their organization. Top level management have provided full developed a supporting culture to the organization which ensures that communication is effective, staff work as a team rather that individualism, the process of making decision have been ensured that it is participative, they have ensured that the subordinate staff undergo a training in order to meet the needs of its customers, empowerment has also been embraced in the bank. There success was as a result of this factors which were emphasized by the top level management. It is at this point that we tend to realize that relationship between management leadership and performance of Union National Bank was positive thus TQM contributed greatly to the success of the bank as a service organization (Pekar, 2005). Organizational culture Basing on customer focus, Union National Bank has worked hard in order to meeting the needs of its customers. Being a strategy attached to TQM, Union National Bank have seen the need to revise the needs of its customers as they are prone to changes with time. In implementing the total Quality Management strategies, no value is added to the customer but failures that existed are redeemed. Union National Banks has ensured that there is an effective communication that exists between the customers and the organization; the stated communication should be continuous. They have also involved its customers in designing a product or service. They developed a strong relationship between the two parties (customer and organization) to ensure that customers participate actively in any marketing activity. Through this a database has been put in place so that customers can be easily monitored on their needs and requirements. The database that was developed by the bank is quite reliable and personnel have been put in place to monitor the progress (Samual, 2004). In designing the services of union National Bank has built its name in the minds of its customers. It is assumed that in building the name of an organization, customers will be creating awareness by themselves and minimal marketing will be done. Union National Bank has for the last few years ushers triple the number of customers they use to handle, it is obvious that the organization is improving on its revenues. Customers will also not be left aside as their needs will have been satisfied. Moreover, in designing service, work processes will be improved and thus time will have been solved; and as they say time is money, Union National Bank has improved its services by designing them to meet their intended requirements. In saving time, assets of the bank who are the customers will be satisfied too and the bank has therefore achieved high performance. Union National Bank in its strategies to meet its set goals has used strategic planning to encompass implementation and evaluation of the existing organizational strategies. Every strategy that is being laid down by the bank requires finances to make it a success, strategic planning will align it so that at the end the organization becomes systematic and never uses its finances without focusing on the outcome. Union National Bank has realized successful change there should be a change plan that should was followed by an organization. With this, there is high likelihood that the planned change will take place. Any change that will involve the human element will require that careful consideration be made. This is so because there are effects that will be realized in the course of change, ranging from acceptance, morale, and the perspective of execution. The workforce that is seen today is not the same as that of the twentieth century which was toned with command and control. Today’s workers expect to be involved in any change, every step of the way. They expect to understand the effect that the change will have on them. The most important aspect of change management is the acceptance of the workforce. For this to be realized, they have to be involved in the change from planning, and controlling to implementing the change. The concept of human element in organizational change is important to the change agent because it helps them understand how best to implement the change, with minimal resistance and maximal acceptance of the change without coercion, threats or intimidation of the employees or change participants. Union National Bank is oriented with the long term performance of their organization. top level management have provided full developed a supporting culture to the organization which ensures that communication is effective, staff work as a team rather that individualism, the process of making decision have been ensured that it is participative, they have ensured that the subordinate staff undergo a training in order to meet the needs of its customers, empowerment has also been embraced in the bank. There success was as a result of this factors which were emphasized by the top level management. It is at this point that we tend to realize that relationship between management leadership and performance of Union National Bank was positive thus TQM contributed greatly to the success of the bank as a service organization (Hakes, 2001). Strategic planning as a factor of Total Quality management has helped Union National bank to employ staff who full meet the requirements that of a bank. The success of an organization is mainly contributed by the type of employees that are in place. In order to ensure meet the set strategy of delivering quality services, strategic planning has brought out clearly those employees should be skilled. Since planning is also about time strategic planning being one of the factors that Total Quality management has contributed highly towards success of many organizations, Union National Banks have not been left aside since it has ensured that all the strategies which are being laid are up to date and will be administered within the stipulated time frame. Union National Banks is aimed at winning new customers as well as retaining the existing ones; it is there duty therefore to establish an approach of strategic planning that is of high quality. The services offered by Union National Banks may be productive though not like some other big organizations either locally or internationally, since the bank has move to be an international bank, it has to moved around the world and identify those big banks and other organizations in order to adopt their way of running the activities. For one, they have moved to the Flying Emirates in order to adopt their way of leadership, although the two organizations run different businesses they both observe quality in their services that they offer, they therefore revise more often, their mode of operation to ensure they satisfy customers. Since Total Quality Management is a universal phenomenon, organizations of all kinds should consider adhering to it. Benefits and problems that will face the organization with regard to Six Sigma Quality management At organizational level Six-Sigma is understood as a means a determinant of quality that Six Sigma method is the execution of a strategy which is measurement oriented and concentrates on procedure enhancement and variation elimination through the Six Sigma development projects application. The significant procedure which is a component in the Six Sigma is the DMAIC process. This entails Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control. Theoretically DMAIC is a greatly designed and thorough approach of solving problems, but one that provides an excellent deal of liberty in every step provided that the team of Six Sigma maintains the meaning of every step and the objectives of every step are achieved (Charantimath. 2003). Benefits of Six Sigma Six sigma is a tool that is used in an organization that used in eliminating some variations in a given process so that costs are saved. It basically gives a change of structure and is tangible results oriented unlike other models. Six Sigma endorses the significance of connecting financial benefits to projects carried out. For instance, the financial feature attracts leading managers at Union National Bank, who engage in money talk. The focus of Six Sigma is to decrease imperfection as a top priority for improvements of quality. Six Sigma provides a leadership commitment. Six Sigma begins by offering senior leadership with training in the values and tools it requires to direct the management infrastructure development to encourage Six Sigma. This entails decreasing the levels of hierarchy in an organization and eliminating barriers of the process to trials and change. There is focus of customer with the Six Sigma applications. Schemes are structured for creating friendly communications with both internal and external clients. For this reason, Six Sigma reduces the chances for defects (Kanji, 2005). Secondly, Six Sigma is considered to be a tool of developing strategies. Its objective is to ensure minimal cost is used. It concentrates on the resources of the company which is the right project, right support, and right people, on recognizing and enhancing performance measures that transmit to outcome success (Peratec Ltd, 2004). Application of Six Sigma bring about incorporated infrastructures in which, the teams of leadership identify and review the progress of the project. The encouragement and identification systems encourage the project teams to attain the goals of the business. Six Sigma provides a disciplined structure. This structure also provides an ongoing improvement of business. Six Sigma promotes training and education. The framework considers that true dedication is controlled by true understanding (Pekar, 2005). Currently, measures have been considered also to employ Six Sigma for advancement reasons to prevent mistakes and failures, through various methods and hence to attract prospective clients and create the satisfaction of the client which relies on the company’s strategy. The companies that practice Six Sigma viewpoint of Customers-Outputs-Processes-Inputs-Suppliers are more appropriate to execute Six Sigma proactively, meaning, to dynamically and accurately solicit the customer’s voice to establish not only the mistakes of a certain service or product but also to recognize significant innovative or essential elements which are missing. The major benefits following applications of Six Sigma is an optimized flow of process and enhanced satisfaction of the client both of which have an impact in the organization’s outcome. When employees are trained in the Six Sigma practice, the company will experience an increased productivity, shorter cycle time, enhanced satisfaction of the customer, and lower incidence of defects (Mukherjee, 2006). Problems an organization is likely to face due to six sigma application Despite the fact that Six Sigma has been to be important to an organization, it is also attached to a number of problems. First is how an organization implements Six Sigma. Majority have failed in the process with the effort of trying to implement it. A maximum of five years is usually required to identify the importance of Six Sigma after the primary dedication has been undertaken. Apart from taking a longer duration to observe any advantages, it is costly to commence such procedure, which explains why utilizing Six Sigma is basically ideal for large companies. Due to these high expenses, small organizations do not have the financial resources required to employ Six Sigma (Naagarazan, 2005). Secondly is the size of an organization. Small organization may be disadvantageous as they may find it quite hard for small organizations to take workers away from their normal tasks so as to be educated in Six Sigma. If the workforce is not present to provide their services, definitely an organization gets loses because of a decrease in productivity. Another issue of Six Sigma is the initiative following what makes up a defect. If a mistake or defect is not defined properly, it might be difficult to establish if one has happened or not. For instance, in customer service, it may be difficult to determine when an error has taken place because errors are grounded upon an individual’s judgment. Therefore a set standard need to be implemented as to what a mistake or error is. Following the analysis of the benefits and problems behind Six Sigma, an organization should establish whether or not the Six Sigma suits them. An obvious development is that Six Sigma is spreading into great service based companies. In the near future, more changes are expected whereby all kinds of organizations will find Six Sigma to be beneficial to them (Oakland, 2003). Conclusion Union National Bank has to be keen on its performance. They should also ensure that they gain competitive advantage on their services as compared to other service organization offering the same product or service. Innovation at Union National Bank should actually be driven by Total Quality Framework and also determines the success of change and development. Six Sigma offers senior leadership with training in the values and tools it requires to direct the management infrastructure development to encourage Six Sigma. This entails decreasing the levels of hierarchy in an organization and eliminating barriers of the process to trials and change. Schemes are structured for creating friendly communications with both internal and external clients. For this reason, Six Sigma reduces the chances for defects. References Charantimath. (2003).
