Crafting a Safety Program for an Organization Executive Summary The key purpose of this report is to develop an effective and relevant employee safety-training program encompassing different considerations and alternatives along with their relevant criteria. An effective safety and health management includes a set of effective practices such as safety and health training, hazard prevention and control, employee involvement, and competent management and leadership (Occupational Safety and Health Administration, 2014). Keeping with the growing phenomenon of employee safety management, the primary aim of the report is to formulate a competent safety program that can successfully enable the organizations in the modern construction industry to avert various workplace hazards. The discussion of the study includes a clear assessment of the problem statements that have developed in line with the case example of safety measures observed in the operational processes of Millers Park projects and Paul Brown stadium construction activities. Problem Statement The problem statement of this report seeks for identifying the health hazards such as injuries and illness of the employees while functioning in workstations. The problem statement of the study substantially provides a clear understanding about the hurdles faced by the employees due to a different workstation related injury-causing illness. The identifying potential workplace hazards are of significance for employees’ well-being as well as to avoid costs that might be resulted by the absenteeism of the employee with illness. Moreover, the problem statement also reveals about the challenges that might face the organization to undergo major rise in its costs associated with hiring new employees along their required training and developmental needs into the processes. In this regard, the key aim of the report is to develop and implement an effective safety program, which can cut down costs of the organization by providing different healthcare benefits. With reference to the problems observed in the report, the case of Millers Park project and the Paul Brown stadium include similar issues associated with the significance of effective safety management programs in the construction related activities. Terminology The key terminology used in the report includes employee safety management. Employee safety management is defined as a system that enables organizations to protect the workforce from different potential hazards that result illness or physical injuries. Major Sections of the Report In order to formulate a competent safety program for the employees at the workplace, the discussion of the report would significantly focus on various key subject areas. In this regard, the major section of the report includes problem statement, an overview of the alternatives and their selection criteria, critical evaluation of the alternatives in response to the safety program, and findings and analysis. Moreover, the formulation of appropriate findings and recommendations have also provided throughout the discussion in order to increase the credibility and viability of the report. With reference to the proposed employee health and safety program, report reveals two major alternatives including, safety training, and inspection and audit programs. Safety Training According to the primary alternative considered in the proposed employee safety program, the safety training involves conducting emergency readiness by understanding the nature of operational exercise and anticipation of the employees has been considered. The practice would enable the organization to increase awareness towards safety precautions safety measures in terms of any type of hazards take place in the operational process. In addition, the safety-training program is also identified to ensure increasing emergency readiness of the employees to avoid any type of serious injuries or illness while performing a specific task. The alternative also suggests that the managers and supervisors also have a major role in terms of forecasting or identifying potential hazards that can protect the health and wellness of the employees while performing their assigned job roles in the organization. The findings obtained from the case evaluation in the report reveals that the inadequate or less focus on integrating safety measures for the workers led Millers Park projects to involve major accidental records as compared to Paul Brown’s stadium construction project. Accordingly, the findings suggested, that the least focus on awareness education related activities in the construction activities of Millers Parks projects resulted in major accidental events. On the other hand, an integrated awareness and educational activities associated with the construction processes of Paul Brown’s construction activities enabled to reduce injury records or any type of illness substantially amid the employees. In this context, it is evident that providing safety training substantially facilitates organizations to avert potential hazards that can result, employees to face various types of injuries or illness (The Great American Ballpark, 2005). Inspection and Audit The alternative of conducting an inspection and audit considered in the report is determined to help managers to pinpoint hazards that might result in serious physical injuries or illness of the employees in the workplace. The alternative of inspecting and auditing has also been considered as it is likely to determine the efficiency of the proposed employee safety program and helps to monitor the operational practices of the employees in line with prescribed guidelines. Therefore, the alternative of inspecting and auditing in the employee safety-training program is a major factor for the organization. In relation to the findings gathered from the case of Millers Park projects and Paul Brown’s stadium construction activities, it has been revealed that awareness among the board members is a crucial aspect of the organizations to execute effective employee safety programs. In this regard, the compensation in employee safety through effective management and efficient use of machinery, equipment along with appropriate employee training and developmental activities is identified to reduce the potential hazards in the workplace. Besides, criteria were developed for selecting appropriate alternative measure in compliance with the guidelines framed for promoting employee safety program. In relation to the major criterion, the integration of Multiple-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) is one of the major aspects of the safety program in selecting appropriate alternatives. The key significance of adopting MCDA mechanism helps to evaluate the criteria that enable organizations or the leaders to make appropriate decisions (Roughton & Mercurio, 2002). With regard to the criteria developed in the proposed safety program, costs associated with the execution of the alternative have been highly prioritized as it determines financial outcome of the organization. The execution of the selected alternative in the safety program has been ascertained to require substantial financial support to obtain the goals of the program. In this regard, costs associated with each stage of the program also serve as a major criterion for selecting appropriate alternative for the safety program. In addition, conducting primary and secondary research to evaluate the significance and outcome of the alternatives have also been considered as major criteria of the proposed safety plan (Roughton & Mercurio, 2002). Scope and Limitation of the Research The primary scope of this research is to promote the significance of employee safety programs in the workplace, which can enable organizations to protect employees from different operational hazards leading to physical illness and injuries. Although the process of developing effective safety programs for the employees have numerous other scopes, but it also has a few limitations. In this context, it is stated that the implementation of the safety framework might lead organizations to undergo financial and productivity related concerns. Recommendations According to an in-depth understanding of the findings evaluated in both in the report, it is quite evident that the safety programs associated with construction processes should highly focus on two major practices including, safety training, and safety inspection and audit. Moreover, adequate focus on training programs for developing employee skills and their competency level can also ensure adequate safety of employees in the workplace. Correspondingly, the safety training programs should also need to consider developing behavioral aspects of the employees as these aspects often relate to increased event of accidents in the workplace.
