It was constructed in 1996 and the grand opening of the station took place in April, 1998. The station covers most of the city as the buses run through each nook and corner of the city. The station also covers a clock tower which calls attention to the colorful glass pyramids made by a local glass artist John Rose. In Eugene, the public transport is provided by the Lane Transit District buses to every part of the city and also to some rural areas. The system maintains convenience for its passengers by providing convenient shops at the schools and downtown, plus it is very user friendly as people on wheelchairs can also easily access it. There are two major Eugene stations throughout the city, one is Eugene Amtrak Station located at 433 Willamette Street and the other Greyhound Bus Station is located at 987 Pearl Street. The Greyhound Bus station has fully trained staff to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip for the passengers. The station is nearby the train station as well as the LTD local buses. Buses at all the stations run in every direction and also to coastal towns including Newport, Florence, and Coos Bay. Eugene Bus Station has become a need for the people of Eugene especially the tourists, the bus station offers a wide collection of goods and services to its passengers at a very affordable rate which is why it has become very popular in recent times. On the west side of the station is the statue of Rosa Parks erected, signifying a tribute to her determination and courage. ATM machines are also installed at the station for customer’s convenience along with an indoor and outdoor waiting area for the passengers. People: The Eugene Bus Station is a very busy place with buses running round the clock. Travelling via bus is a very affordable means of travel especially for families as the ticket is almost free for kids under 6 and aged passengers who are 65 and above. For adults (19-64) the rate of ticket is $3.50 per day and for monthly pass the rate is $48 which is quite affordable. The management offers discounted tickets to its employees as it realizes that for an organization to run smoothly it is the responsibility of the management to satisfy its employees first, because happy employees is equal to happy customers. Moreover, the entire station is kids friendly with no smoking zones. Since the ticket is quite affordable so people from lower middle to middle class prefer to travel via it. However, it depends upon their on preference because the ticket for the train is almost as affordable as the bus ticket. The station is the busiest place on weekdays, since it is a working day so people have to go to work and university during the weekdays. The bus timings for weekdays is 5:00 am till 11:00 pm, while in weekends the time is cut back because of lower traffic. The bus station is even accessible in snow and ice conditions. Power: There is no discrimination existing at the site area, the place is safe for women and kids. As the rules clearly specify that use of foul and abusive language is strictly prohibited. It is not just a bus station but a way to socialize with the people and take out some extra time to work or avoid traffic jams and parking headaches. The buses have a special facility of child safety seats with a lap or shoulder belts, however in order to avail this facility the seat space should be purchased at a discounted child fare. Considering the safety for its every single passenger the station has specified some rules to be followed by bus passengers. The bus drivers are very friendly and professional, if asked any question they are always available to answer it, plus they abide by the rules strictly and do not violate the rules themselves. However, most people prefer traveling in trains because of the accessibility to Wi-Fi connection and other additional facilities. The bus station has an area reserved for parking cars or bikes which relieves the customers of their car and bikes safety and upon returning back to the station they can travel back to their houses using their personal vehicles. Eugene Bus station is the most suitable place with goods and service suitable for every age groups and personalities. The place is not dominated by a single gender, rather the crowd is equally divided into men and women. Though the buses at the stations are not as fast as the train but the slow ride offers the passengers a panoramic view of the nature outside the windows of the bus and let them have a moment with it.
