Steve jobs; the innovator of our days of the affiliation Steve Jobs; the Innovator of Our Days The character of influentialindividuals has always left marks in anything they focused to achieve. In this sense, the field of technology and communication has been impacted heavily by the life and actions of Steve Jobs. The former Apple Chief Executive Officer is the obvious reason behind the huge success of the company, and evidently stimulated the creativity and innovation that has made the company very successful in the competitive technology market. With many of his attributes, it would be plausible to note that he made a remarkable change in the communication industry and was one of the greatest innovators of our times. The Apple I With his counterpart and college friend Wozniak, the technology guru invented the company in 1976, initially starting with the personal computer. Profiling the relentless personality that best defines Jobs, the company started on a small scale with personal computers that had no external devices like mouse or keyboard (Kemper & Kemper, 2005, p. 32). Although the selling price of the personal computer was quite low as compared to the height of invention at the time, it provided a ground on which one of the most profitable companies in the world could be founded. Apple II One year after the company was invented, the trend of innovation in Apple grew and this led to the invention of Apple II. With a sustained improvement in quality and production, this new set of computers were fitted with external devices like monitors and keyboards, making thecompuet5rs more useful; and popular. The contribution of both Wozniak and Jobs was tremendous in the invention of the Apple II, and this marked the beginning of the mass production of computers to meet varied personal and business operations. In this platform, it was evident that computers had taken root and were on track to revolutionize life. The typeface innovation Most of the attributes showered on the life of Steve Jobs are linked to his leadership skills, his wisdom as well as intelligence with which he drove innovation in Apple. In this respect, an important contribution is forgotten relating to one of his most useful innovations that have helped individuals in the modern age to express themselves through letters (Gallo & Mangan, 2011, p. 51). Although the invention of letters is pointed to Gutenberg in the 15th century, the art had always been monotonous and the expression of ideas followed the same basic patterns as invented by the German genius. As many years went by, the need to have a difference in presentation of documents was evident, and the field of personal computers was evidently growing and replacing the traditional printers and typewriters. In a unique way to give credit, he owed his tremendous invention to his rather incomplete academic life in Reed college, and particularly to the elements that made his stay in the college so impossible that he had to move out and explore the tenets of science (Kelly-Gangi, 2012, p. 103). With this, a permanent mark was left, with the innovation of fonts being the foundation of modern calligraphy and writing. Invention of Macintosh With the valuable contribution of Steve Jobs, Apple was able to launch the Macintosh in 1984, which was considered a vital invention in the trend of computing. In this respect, iMac was able to utilize the graphical user interface as well as handle the elements outside the machine like the mouse and keyboards, which made business easy and manageable to many organizations. The Macintosh was in particularly useful in the commercial industry, and it was all a matter of convenience having to use applications and systems that enhanced controls of processes in many organizations (Kemper & Kemper, 2005, p. 34). The Pixar The Pixar profiles Jobs as an exemplary innovator, one who is always in search of opportunities that can be improved to realize excellence. In this respect, Jobs was quick to buy a struggling computer designing firm form George Lucas. In a show of intellect and wits, Jobs was able to rebrand the firm and turn around its fortunes to become one of the most preferred animated film studios. The studio went ahead to win numerous awards for its high quality movies such as Toy Story. The firm was later to be sold to Walt Disney Company in 2006, at a point where its value was so enormous that is made Steve Jobs its greatest stockholder. NeXT In a rare turn of events, the executive director fired Steve Jobs from Apple in 1985. Being a continuous innovator, Jobs was too engrossed in making new products, at a time when there was a power struggle in the company in which he subsequently lost (Elliot & Simon, 2011, p. 72). While he was outside the company, Jobs was able to consolidate his efforts and create a new firm called NeXT. The firm concentrated in innovation of computer related material and was a major success for Jobs. The firm was later purchased by Apple, which at the time was not performing and had to seek the expertise of Jobs in 1997. The cube With the invention of the cube, it was interesting to see the computer fitted in a clear box, something that had never been tried before. The cube’s major highlights were the improved designs as well as the absence of cooling fans that were prominent in the previous designs. The heat dissipated was successfully managed out of the device using its encasement. Although critics provided their opinions that it never imp[roved the user experience, it is evident that the cube was a precursor for more inventions that followed in the world of computing design (Kemper & Kemper, 2005, p. 39). The iPod This was an innovative show of the company, now tightly held by Steve Jobs. Built on the latest processors and control systems, the device was an asset to its users who would record and play the music from the device. Signaling the expansion of the information technology, the music played could be downloaded online at a subsidized fee imposed by the company (Kelly-Gangi, 2012, p. 98). It is no doubt that the device was a huge success, and most young people could not do without one. The Mac Book Built and sold in 2006, the breed of Apple computers was an important invention linked to Steve Jobs. The Mac Book had all the features of the desktop computer and was being adopted by most organizations especially in the United States. although the innovation was lucrative, the invention of cheaper laptops challenged the competitive ability of the Apple made brands. However, the Mac Book has stood the test of time and is on a league of its own (Elliot & Simon, 2011, p. 79). The laptops have over the years outdid all their competitors in terms of sales, durability and usage to meet the customer demands. The I Phone These innovative gadgets were meant to improve the portability of operations and be of valuable assistance to many people. The invention of the I Phone in 2007 opened a new chapter in communication, with the ability to juggle through multiple programs, play games and surf the net with a gadget that is barely the size of the palm (Elliot & Simon, 2011, p. 81). In addition, the improvements that have been subsequently made on the I Phones have increased its usage and preferable nature from its competitors. Currently, it is one of the most preferable phones according to consumer surveys conducted. The I Pad Tablet Credited on his name, the tablet has opened a whole new experience in the modern day technology. With its reduced size and latest technology, the tablet makes it easy for people to communicate and transact businesses in a more flexible and easier way (Gallo & Mangan, 2011, p. 49). The most outstanding features in the tablet include its internet capability, the audio interface as well as the touch screen, which improves the user’s experience. The profiled innovations are the sign of a man who lived to change the world through computers. Referred to as a genius, technology guru and an innovator of his own caliber, it is evident that Jobs was focused on achieving new technologies and nothing would stand in his way. To this end, Steve Jobs remains in the technology history books and his innovations will be relevant even in the future. References Elliot, J., & Simon, W. L. (2011).
