Recruiting Manager In BRB Inc. The case study is focused on the electronic company named BRB Inc. which is looking for hiring a General Manager for the new subsidiary in Israel. BRB Inc. Production field is electronic radar that differs from other competitors with much superiority such as price, size and weight range (Roof and Bakhtari 136). The radar has a unique role during war. With the help of radio waves it detects objects such as aircraft, ships, motor vehicles, spacecraft, terrain and other objects that are used in war. Considering the fact that Israel has conflict with Arab world, BRB’s CEO claims that Israel is in need with such device for affordable price range and therefore, expanding Israel would be a great opportunity for BRB Company. Question one: In this regard, the company’s challenging task is to find the best candidate to Israel’s office who can tolerate the chaos taking place there. Conner and O’Leary should consider various qualities and criteria when choosing the best candidate, who is going to enroll in general management task in Israel subsidiary (Roof and Bakhtari 136). Firstly, the candidate must have a strong work ethics and dedication (Roof and Bakhtari 137). This will enable him or her to deliver top results for the company. It is also important to have a candidate who is culturally sensitive and diplomatic (Roof and Bakhtari 137). This is a very important aspect to consider since he or she will be acting on behaves of the BRB and should represent a complete the interest of the organization. It would also be important to have a candidate who has interest in different cultures (Roof and Bakhtari 137). This becomes crucial especially when it comes to dealing with people from a different cultural background. Since the manager will be based in Israel, it would be necessary to pick a candidate with Hebrew language knowledge in order to facilitate communication with the majority of Israelis. On the other hand, it would be necessary to have a candidate who would facilitate establishment and growth of business in Israel. With ongoing unrest in Israel, it would be necessary to have a candidate who would be able to conduct sensitive transactions with Israel government (Roof and Bakhtari 137). This therefore calls for a candidate with a strong sense of politics. Additionally, with such a sensitive working environment in Israel, the candidate should also possess ability to make decisions and be able to adapt to new challenges (Roof and Bakhtari 137). Moreover, the candidate must have innovative skills with ability to bring technical ideas to BRB. Question two: The difficult tasks for Conner and O’Leary involves coming up with the right person for the job. Firstly, this is because they have to have somebody who would ensure successful business operations in Israel. This is the primary consideration they have to make. Secondly, the person they recruit could jeopardize their own job if they come up with incompetent person (Roof and Bakhtari 138). As such, Human Resources managers should know the potential employee’s religion, marital status, gender, experience, and competence (Roof and Bakhtari 138). In this regard, Human Resources managers should be more attentive, mindful, and rigorous while choosing the right person. This is so because this will not only display their ability to steer head the company’s operations but also to pick the right person for the job. Question three: It seems in Conner’s set, second candidate, Robert Kyle, would be the most suitable one to operate in Israel, taking into account his electronic radar knowledge along with his international experience. Another plus of Kyle is gaining confidence of CEO, Lizfeld. Although Conner hesitates introducing Kyle due to his lack of Israel culture and language, he could be trained in both Intercultural and language trainings before heading there. Moreover, Kyle had strong management skills and was highly respected both in the organization and in the industry (Roof and Bakhtari 138). He has also education qualifications with PhD in electrical engineering. The fact that Kyle had experience in international processes before makes him potential to the duty. On the side of O’Leary, his major concern was on the emphasis of culturally perfect candidate. One of the three candidates O’Leary chose, Shafrir, would be the best candidate for the required position. Yair Shafrir currently enrolled in vice-president duty at one of the best radar company in Israel called Elta Electronics. Especially, his background skills in electrical engineering and working experience in Israel represent him as a best candidate for the recent position. As so, there is no need to offer candidate with either intercultural training or electronic radar training which causes waste of time as well as money. Other than that, he proved his capabilities by accomplishing the mostly tasks according to schedule (Roof and Bakhtari 141) which is a force of his personal leadership traits. Despite, Shafrir’s less familiarity with electronic division, which stems from lack of international business experience (Roof and Bakhtari 141), he could be trained with global business trainings that would teach him export/import base. Question five: Generally, employers provide employees with compensation packages including, Health insurance, employee discounts, extended leaves, and retirement plans which are common for expatriates in calm country. However, since Israel is not one of the stable countries to live and work for, the risk of injury and even loss of life is an inevitable fact, therefore, not every candidate intends to continue his or her career in such circumstance unless he or she is provided with valuable benefits in compensations packages. Therefore, HR managers should contemplate to offer candidate unusual benefits that would be useful for him in war country. As such, benefits, wellness programs are the most important compensation types to be provided. Wellness Programs are considered to be very important in every work place. They help in motivating employees as well as taking care of their health. Through various insurance schemes, some of the services that could be offered to the candidate include programs that offer disease preventive services like mental health programs, disability programs and stress management. The programs could also offer disease treatment, and counseling programs. Wellness programs may also incorporate employee assistance program which would include and not limited to helping the manager with marital problems, financial assistance, and also legal matters. It is apparent that, Israel has conflict with neighboring country and both countries use various types of weapons containing toxic items which are harmful for health. With the help of disease prevention program, if the diseases are detected early enough, they could be controlled to avoid spreading out. Another highly possible illness is mental problem that can cause distress to persons working in hard circumstances which have fatal consequences including suicide cases. Mental illness can be totally healed once detected in pre-illness period with the help of mental health program. Additionally, Stress management program is in charge of helping employee to deal with stress more effectively by analyzing the main stressor and taking positive actions like muscular relaxation, guided imagery, biofeedback, and breathing technique activities, in order to reduce its effect. It is unavoidable that everybody might have hard time working in a country under bomb blasts that could lead to stress which arises from fear, anxiety and many others. Other than that, Insurance should be one of main compensation agent through various health programs. This can be achieved by BRB enrolling the manager into health programs that would cater for his health. Through various insurance packages, the company may decide to the insurance company a few packages like hospitalization package and Primary Care Physicians who would be monitoring the health of the manager. The company may pay the insurance the full package amount, or pay a percentage of the package and let the manager pay the other percentage. Insurance programs may also include covering the spouse of the manager and the illegible dependant children. Works cited: Roof, William and Bakhtari Barbara. Recruiting a manager for BRB, Israel.
