Strategy implementation INTRODUCTION The Stilsim Company during its twenty-five years of experience in the department of human resources has gone through many changes with each change causing a severe loss for the company. The company, however, despite of all the changes has managed not to change its standards during these years and has still kept its old technology. At present the company has to make some vital changes in order to lead amongst its competitors. Firstly, it needs to change its mission statement and to improve its vision. The change in the mission statement is very important as the mission statement play an important role in creating a business image. Secondly, it has to work on its statement of values and to maintain it. Other than that the Company has to make a list of strategies that would help the company in succeeding. In order to determine the risks that could come in the way of the company it should have an organizational structure along with a backup plan just in case the structure doesn’t work. A behavioral control system must be utilized by the company and rewards and incentives should be given to the workers so that their performance enhances. At last, the company needs to work on the ethical issues regarding it by making plans for the existing legal issues. If the above changes are implemented then the Stilsim Company will surely dominate the market and a new era would begin. MISSION STATEMENT/VISION STATEMENT The name Stilsim suggests the excitement that we feel about this business. Since we have an extended knowledge about the people it demonstrates the recognition that our company receives for our work within the community and the market. Just like us, our name is also strikingly different. We have three offices in central Ohio and our workforce of Ohio contains a large number of registered associates who annually provide flexible staffing to our clientele’s accounts. Since we are in this business for twenty five years now and are very well aware of the challenges in our market place, we supply you the services and staffing that can meet those challenges. STATEMENT OF VALUES: Integrity, quality customer service, honesty, openness, personal excellence, continual self improvement and mutual respect are valued the most in the Stilsim Company. Our commitment to our customers and cliental has always been our focus and our top priority is to provide them with the best of the services. We pride ourselves in honoring our customers, shareholders, partners, and employees and are passionate about providing them with the best results. To make our employees and cliental understand more about ourselves, we provide them with our brochures and handbook which has all the basic information about us. HIGH LEVEL ACTION PLAN A high level action plan is what our company needs to implement certain changes. This plan would be made to make sure that everything is looked well after and that nothing gets left behind. The current action plan that has been decided for the company is the low cost strategy as it is believed that the low cast provider is the best way right now for our company to succeed. The Stilsim Company now feels the need to upgrade the technology that it has never changed. As technologies are now constantly changing in our modern world and are a very essential part of the business, our company must change its technology. Firstly the company needs to upgrade its database- a collection of organized information. If all the information is well organized the employees can easily access, manage, and update it. The databases will also help in classifying the information according to the type of its contents. Another essential technological upgrade for the company would be Intranet which is a term used for a collection of private computer networks within an organization. The intranet would be used as a tool to facilitate the communication the company’s employers it will also enhance communication between the workgroups in order to improve the data sharing capability and the knowledge base of the employees. Voicemail is another technology that would help a great deal on the missed calls or the busy talk time. The company, to market its image to the outside world has to upgrade its website. By website here we mean the collection of web pages rather than a web page. To change the website, of course, the company would need a full IT professional. The IT professional the company would hire will also be responsible for all the technological aspects of the company. The technology of the company needs an instant attention and has to changed as quickly as possible as the company’s success depends on it. Another important step that the company needs to take is to focus on the low end service employees. The company must include college students as employees apart from the experienced professionals. Recruiting college students will be an important step for the company’s success. The third important step that the company needs to take is to improve communication as communication is one of the biggest problems that the company is facing. The introduction of intranet the communication flow amongst the employees and the managerial personnel would improve drastically. Another way of improving the communication is by establishing a leadership in each department. The leader of each department will be responsible for its team and its problems o that in the meantime we can cut off the internal fight between the staff. The forth important step would be improving the back office efficiency. This matter needs a serious consideration as the dissatisfaction of cliental and employees are damaging the reputation of the company pretty badly which is not good for the company. Since the company is still using the manual system the desks of the employees is usually full of paper, which is another reason why the technology must be upgraded. The fifth important step is to use the online market. As the online market is so huge, the company should make use of the online job search by hiring employees through it. With an improved website and image more people would become aware of the company. The sixth step should be the improvement in the productivity of employees. The employees are managed by the essence of their motivation. The direct relationship that exists between the company’s management provides a work environment that achieves the goals of the company and modern human resource management. The seventh and the final step must be to establish an HR office. The company really needs a department responsible for sourcing and hiring personnel, applicant tracking, skills development and benefits administration with associated government regulations. The responsibilities of HR include payroll, benefits, hiring, firing, and keeping up to date with state and federal tax laws. ORGANIZATIONAL DESIGN When we talk about the organizational structure we refer to the grouping of people in the organization and to the person they report to. The company needs a leader who has the total knowledge of the events occurring in the company. The leader who happens to be Bill simmon should involve himself completely in his business. He must assign a manager in each department each of which will completely responsible for his department and must make a weekly meeting with the CEO keeping him updated regarding the events and the changes that are taking place in the company. In short, the company is going to use the functional organizational structure- a structure that isolates certain tasks and then further divides them into simplified duties that are best suited for specific talents. The functional organizational structure divides the activities of the company into "functional departments," like: marketing, customer service, accounting, information technology Activities within a functional organizational structure are divided into "functional departments," for example: marketing, information technology, customer service, accounting and research-development. The Company would soon be very organized and would sail forward smoothly with no problems at all. RISKS/BACKUP PLAN It is very important for us to be optimistic and believe that if we follow this plan there is definitely going to be a great positive change in the company. However this should be kept in mind that in order to implement these strategies we would have to face some risks. For that the company must have a backup plan. The first risk we have to take is confronting Bob Henderson who because of his bad attitude is badly affecting the morale of employees working in the company. His attitude has been this way for two years, ever since the purchase of Mountain View office. Either the company should simply fire him or to warn him that he has to change his attitude. The second risk for the company is Sue Maxium who is under the law case due to the claim made by another company of his theft of a cliental he dealt with. Stealing is an addictive habit in my opinion and I believe that we must get rid of him as soon as possible as chances are that he would steal again. The third risk would be either letting Bill Simmons retire, which he wishes to do as he is getting old, or to convince him some way to keep with the changes, something he has not been doing for a while now CONTEMPORARY CONTROL We define strategic control as process that monitors various strategies that are being adopted by the company to check whether these strategies are helping the internal environment of the company with respect to the external environment. The control also allows the managers to evaluate the company’s programs from a long term critical perspective. The implementation of the strategic control is very important as the control would check for two things: (a) that the strategy is implemented the way it was planned (b) are the results being produced by the strategy are the same as those that were initially intended. It is essential to find whether or not the strategies planned are helping in achieving the goals. BEHAVIORAL CONTROL The company must use the behavioral control to achieve its goals. This strategy would monitor the behavior of the employees and based on the subjective measures of activities and abilities would evaluate the employees accordingly. The manager would keep a check on the input and the efforts of the employees and check whether they reach his expectations. If the outcome at a certain long term level, of the employee meets with the demands of the company then the employee would be given a reward and an incentive to boost his morale and his behavior as an employee Ethics Ethics here in Stilsim is defined as written or unwritten codes of values and principles that would govern all the decisions and actions within the company. Ethics play an important part in the success of a company as in the business world today the culture of the organization sets standards for determining the difference between the good and the bad behavior and decisions. The company’s manager will have to play the major role in establishing the ethics within the company. If the manager follows the ethics the employees would likely do the same. The leaders of the company are responsible for setting standards as to what should be acceptable regarding the employee’s behavior and what should not be acceptable. It is very important for the managers to create a working environment in which the employees are encouraged to work in an ethical manner Conclusion The twenty five years of experience, a huge cliental and its loyalty would help the company in succeeding. Although presently the company is going through a rough time, it will rise again if the right strategy and right people are employed. We will definitely, take the company Bill Simmons has built from a scratch towards a better tomorrow and towards great success. Read More
